New research has revealed the industries taking the most sick days, with transport workers topping the list, and healthcare staff not far behind. People working in the transport and storage sector recorded a collective 10.6 million sick days in 2025 – the equivalent of 6.5 days off per employee. Coming in a narrow second are health and social workers, who registered 29.4 million sick days, the most of any sector, equating to 6 days per employee.

IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG), has reported a 21% year-on-year increase in the volume of perishable goods transported during the first half of 2025. The rise comes as demand for fresh produce continues to grow, with recent industry research highlighting a shift in European consumer behaviour. In particular, Peru is posting record export growth. In March alone, year on year asparagus exports surged by 105%, with Spain among the top destinations.

In a bid to counter rising levels of crime against commercial drivers, business group Logistics UK has established the first official partnership of its kind with the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS). The EU has confirmed that its Entry/Exit Scheme (EES) is to go live on 12 October. A new national report from Women in Transport warns that the UK's transport industry is not only failing to make progress on gender equity it is now actively losing ground. Antwerp Shipping and Forwarding Company NV, a member of the Mega Move Alliance (MMA), has successfully executed the transport of 2,475 pipes for a power plant project in Iceland. By strategically using Antwerp as a transshipment hub, they achieved a 25% reduction in total transportation costs. The project involved pipes of various diameters, each measuring 12 meters in length. In total, the cargo weighed 2,474 metric tons and occupied a volume of 3,169 cubic meters.
