This was a revealing, fascinating history, giving me the beginnings of a better understanding. Bravo. I was left hungry for a more nuanced view of the current populations, with a strong suspicion that what's "right" for one population probably isn't for some or most of the others. That understanding often comes from the best academics and nonprofits, and sometimes government agencies. I wish you had a fourth episode addressing that level of complexity.

isabellaro about 2 months ago I so appreciate the open minded and soulful approach on all the podcasts on here, and I especially resonate with a non-denominational look at faith, meaning and humanity. The Bible is wild as a historical document, it always defies one specific interpretation, and you always find out something new on how this one book isn't actually written by its supposed author, or stems from a completely different time.

Jesus is complicated. He's the man who said turn the other cheek - and the man who said he came not to bring peace, but a sword. The man who dined with outcasts and sinners - and the man who promised to set a daughter against her mother. Two thousand years of readers have found both men in the same book, and built entire lives, entire churches, around the parts they chose to hear.

I think I might be responding to Episode 3 and Episode 4. I listened to them back-to-back. I hope I don't seem preachy at any point. My wife thought I did get a bit prescriptive.
