To the Editor: I write in opposition to the reported consideration of Bonnie Reemsnyder for appointment to the Old Lyme Zoning Commission. The Board has before it a candidate of exceptional qualification in Michael Barnes — an Old Lyme native, multi-business owner, and six-year alternate with a near 97% attendance record and deep working knowledge of the town’s zoning regulations, coastal development rules, and the current regulation rewrite that is already well underway.
Talking Transportation: Airlines’ Windowless Window Seats
Let’s be honest. Flying is no fun anymore. Traveling, yes. Flying, no. Again this summer the airports are crowded, the TSA lines are long, the flights delayed (and sometimes cancelled) due to weather and the fares have soared because of the Iran War. But the airlines seem finally to be raking it in. Estimates are this summer may be one of their best in many years as demand far exceeds supply. People want that long-wished-for summer vacation, the price be damned.

WATERFORD, CT – Lyme-Old Lyme Senior Softball All-Stars continued their dominant run through the state tournament Thursday night, defeating Bristol Seniors 16-0 in Wateford. The victory improved the Wildcats to 3-0 in state tournament play, with the team yet to allow a single run.

Runners, Walkers Invited to Kick Off Midsummer Festival with 5K Run & Walk
OLD LYME, CT – The Old Lyme Midsummer 5K Run & Walk will kick off the annual Old Lyme Midsummer Festival on Saturday, July 25, at 8 a.m. The race features a flat, fast course through the streets of Old Lyme’s Historic District, followed by the festival’s celebration of arts and culture. Participants can choose from a 5K run, 5K walk or Kids K. The first 200 registered participants will receive race shirts, and all finishers will receive medals.
