This morning (Thursday 16th July) the Government announced its preferred option for Local Government Reorganisation in Lancashire. Subject to Parliamentary approval, four new unitary councils will be created to replace the current 15 councils, bringing all council services for each area under a single authority. This means that residents in the Fylde Council area will, from April 2028, be served by a new authority which will also cover Blackpool and Wyre.

Following the thefts of bicycles from Lytham St Anne's High School and Kirkham Grammar School, Fylde Rural Task Force have made two arrests. A male, aged 16, from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of the theft of bicycle. A second male, aged 16, from Blackpool has also been arrested on suspicion of the theft of two bicycles. Police say that one of the stolen bicycles has since been located and returned to the owner.
