The man charged with harassment (put in fear of violence) towards Blackpool South MP Chris Webb has pleaded guilty to the offence. This comes after a series of emails containing threatening and abusive messages were recently received by MP Webb The emails arrived between 6th June 2026 and 14th July 2026.

This morning (Thursday 16th July) the Government announced its preferred option for Local Government Reorganisation in Lancashire. Subject to Parliamentary approval, four new unitary councils will be created to replace the current 15 councils, bringing all council services for each area under a single authority. This means that residents in the Fylde Council area will, from April 2028, be served by a new authority which will also cover Blackpool and Wyre.

The Daily Mirror has shared a map which features the best and worst seaside destinations. The listings are based on the survey hosted by consumer magazine Which? In the survey, over 5,300 people were asked about their experiences during the past year. These experiences of seaside holiday destinations included criteria based on the quality of beaches and scenery, the food and drink on offer, accommodation, tourist attractions, and value for money.

A major battle over the controversial Morgan and Morecambe offshore wind farm cable route has entered a crucial new stage - with Fylde Council making one final push to persuade the Government to think again. The Council has today (Tuesday 30th June) said that fresh representations have been submitted to the Secretary of State after examining the latest documents connected with the proposed Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms Transmission Assets project.

Following the thefts of bicycles from Lytham St Anne's High School and Kirkham Grammar School, Fylde Rural Task Force have made two arrests. A male, aged 16, from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of the theft of bicycle. A second male, aged 16, from Blackpool has also been arrested on suspicion of the theft of two bicycles. Police say that one of the stolen bicycles has since been located and returned to the owner.
