A Clarendon County woman is among seven people charged in connection with an alleged $550,000 bribery and contraband smuggling scheme at Lee Correctional Institution, according to federal prosecutors. Mary Ann Hickman-Brown, 64, of Clarendon County, has agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud after being charged by information, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina announced.

The Manning Police Department (MPD) is asking for the public's help identifying the owner of a pickup truck believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a person earlier this month. Investigators are searching for information about a light-colored, four-door pickup truck believed to have been involved in a June 12 hit-and-run. Police said the incident left the victim with numerous serious injuries.

The Clarendon County Coroner's Office is inviting the community to come together for Clarendon Cares: A Service of Remembrance, a candlelight-style vigil honoring those who died in 2025. The service will be held Wednesday, July 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the Weldon Auditorium, 10 Maple St. in Manning. Family members, friends and community members are encouraged to attend as the county pauses to remember loved ones, reflect on their lives and offer support to those who are grieving.

A Summerton man died after being struck by a pickup truck Friday night on Paxville Highway, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Clarendon County Coroner's Office. Jamal Henry, 44, of Summerton, was identified Monday by Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell. An autopsy is scheduled for this week at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The collision occurred around 10 p.m. Friday, June 26, near the intersection of Paxville Highway and Raccoon Road.

A Washington, D.C., man died early Monday after the SUV he was driving left Interstate 95 and struck a tree in Clarendon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell. The single-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 12:36 a.m. Monday, June 29, on I-95 northbound near the 132-mile marker.

A South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) inmate housed in Clarendon County has been charged by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) in connection with separate investigations in Abbeville and Laurens counties. According to SLED, Larmarcus Alexander Stewart Jr., 37, was charged with stalking on May 19, 2026. He was charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult and financial identity fraud on June 16, 2026.

The collision occurred around 10 p.m. Friday, June 26, near the intersection of Paxville Highway and Raccoon RoadAccording to SCHP, a 2005 Ford F-150 was traveling west on Paxville Highway, toward the I-95 interchange and Paxville, when it struck a pedestrian who was walking north across the highway.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help identifying several persons of interest connected to a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 23-year-old man earlier this week. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced Friday that investigators are seeking to identify individuals captured on a residential security camera in connection with the June 21 homicide. "If you have the names of any one or all of these individuals, please call us," Ravenell said.
