Boy and father in critical condition after attack in own home by masked men in Thurnby
Officers were called to a house in Thurnby, Leicestershire, in the early hours of Thursday following a report that two masked men had entered and attacked the occupants. The boy and his father - a man in his 50s - are in hospital in a life-threatening condition following the attack, which happened just before 12.30am at the property in Station Road, Leicestershire Police said.

Trump says Russia will immediately supply '300,000 tons of diesel' - with millions more to follow
The US president said the first tranche, comprising 300,000 tons, would be released immediately in a post on his own social network, Truth Social. He said it would be followed by another 500,000 tons in November, with a further one million tons "immediately thereafter". Russia would then provide three million tons "within a short period of time", he added. A US ton equates to 907kg, while a metric tonne weighs 1,000kg.
