Every Friday night when I light the Shabbat candles and say my prayers, I think about the week that was. Last night I thought about how this past week was a doozy. I mean every week these days is cray cray, but I think we can all agree we hit a new level. We have the continued coverup with whatever is going on with Mitch McConnell. I do not believe that the one pic that was released is proof of life. If he were in a rehab center as claimed, SOMEONE would have seen him.

This morning on my Facebook page, Thoughts From Aisle 4, I posed the question “Would you rather have explosive diarrhea or listen to Trump address the nation?” When I look a little while ago, I had 650 responses. And they did not disappoint. So I figured I’d share some of the best ones here on my Substack. Enjoy. - I already have diarrhea so at least now I feel like I’m getting something out of it - A choice?? Let me go run out and buy all the bagged lettuce at the store.

Wolf Trump in Sheep’s Clothing A number of years ago, probably when Trump was running for president the first time, I commented to someone how he was a scumbag. As well as a sexual predator. To which the person (who voted for him all three times) said if that were true, why hadn’t he ever been convicted of sexual assault? Well, there were a lot of reasons he got away with it. He paid people off- like the $130,000 in hush money he gave to Stormy Daniels via his “fixer” Michael Cohen.

The Reflecting Pool was drained and lo and behold, THERE WAS NO GASH as Trump had claimed. Not a 300-foot gash, not a 100-foot gash, nothing. Color me not surprised. There were, however, visible tire tracks. Which were made by Trump and his motorcade because of course it makes perfect sense to drive heavy vehicles across the bottom of a concrete pool. The Reflecting Pool is a literal example of our taxpayer money going down the drain. How is anyone okay with this?

Yesterday we all saw the Mitch McConnell “proof of life” photo that we can been asking/waiting/clamoring for. There he was, next to his wife, smiling and looking great. Maybe a little too great. In fact, I thought he looked better than he has in years and definitely better than someone who was rushed to the hospital a month ago after a fall that left him unconscious. Not to mention the “mild bout with pneumonia” he’s been battling. I am not usually big on conspiracy theories.

Trump says he has left instructions in case Iran assassinates him. Um, okay.

Okay, it’s been almost a month since Mitch McConnell was resuscitated and taken to the hospital. Maybe he was brought back from the dead or… maybe he wasn’t. When one of the GOP guys who claims he spoke to McConnell was asked why the Senator won’t talk to anyone else- like the press- his answer was something about how private McConnell is about his health. Earlier today I put up a meme on my FB page, Thoughts From Aisle 4, that said “Dear Trump, Please stay out of sports. Signed, All of America.” Belgium has been mocking him mercilessly and I can’t say that I blame them. My readers (and I) had lots of other thoughts about other things and places they’d like him to stay out of. Such as colleges. And Greenland. Marlene’s Substack is a reader-supported publication. I happened to hear Trump speaking earlier today about how he is the “number one person on TikTok by far.” WAY ahead of Taylor Swift who is only number eleven on this “list” that he saw a few days ago. The people standing behind him were struggling to keep a straight face as he droned on and on. No, Trump is not on the list of the top ten TikTok accounts.

A lot has gone over the past few days- barbeques, fireworks, extreme heat, crazy thunderstorms- one popped up last night while we were finishing dinner outside. People expressing sadness for where we are as a country on our 250th birthday, people expressing hope for the future, etc. I’ve had my kids and grandkids visiting and hosted a 25th birthday party for my youngest son who I’ve often referred to as CIA boy.
