La historia del taekwondo sumó un nuevo capítulo este miércoles en Corea del Sur. Marruecos conquistó por primera vez el título femenino del World Taekwondo World Cup Team Championships, al imponerse en una destacada actuación que confirmó el crecimiento sostenido del país africano en la élite de este deporte. El equipo integrado por Khoulal Merieme, Ennams Fatima-Zahra, Nada Laaraj y Amina Dehhaoui completó un recorrido impecable hacia la medalla de oro.

El certamen comenzó este martes en Chuncheon, Corea, con una jornada que dejó en evidencia el alto nivel de una modalidad que exige estrategia colectiva, profundidad de plantel y capacidad de adaptación, muy diferente a la competencia individual. Integrado por Yang Li, Yufan Chen, Mingsi Li y Guansen Niu, el equipo chino avanzó con autoridad tras superar previamente a India y Tailandia antes de derrotar a Kazajistán en la definición, revalidando así el título obtenido en la edición anterior.

Greek Taekwondo has officially entered a new era. Michalis Mouroutsos, Greece’s first Olympic Taekwondo gold medalist after his historic victory at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, has been elected President of the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation, ushering in a new leadership for the national governing body. The election followed an active campaign in which supporters of Mouroutsos emphasized broad backing from clubs across the country.

Daedo has released its assessment of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Rome 2026, an event that brought together leading international athletes and opened a new competitive stage on the road to Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The Spanish company participated as the official supplier of the Gen3 Protector and Scoring System, which was used throughout the competition in the Italian capital.

The event brought together 165 athletes from 36 countries, along with the Refugee Team and World Taekwondo (Costa Rica), for two days of high-level competition. The presence of 21 Paralympic medallists from Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 added significant weight to a tournament that has rapidly become an important platform for elite Para Taekwondo. Türkiye made the strongest statement on the first day, winning both men’s divisions contested.

La empresa española participó como proveedora oficial del Sistema Electrónico de Protectores y Puntuación Gen3, utilizado durante las jornadas desarrolladas en la capital italiana.

Held on July 6, the event brought together athletes from 20 countries. Kyung Hee University’s Poomsae Team delivered a standout performance in the G1 division, with Park Chae-won claiming victory in the women’s individual division after defeating Seo Chae-won, who was selected this year as a national team member, in the final with a score of 9.066. Park, who won gold at the 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Hong Kong, once again demonstrated her elite level on the international stage.

En cinco jornadas consecutivas, Ecuador recibirá tres competencias diferenciadas, articuladas dentro de una misma programación internacional: el Campeonato Panamericano Infantil, la Copa de las Naciones G1 de Poomsae y la Copa de las Naciones G1 de Kyorugi.

Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Togolese Republic, visited Kukkiwon on May 29, 2026, where he met with Kukkiwon President Yun Ung-seok and discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Togo and South Korea through Taekwondo. The meeting formed part of Dussey’s official agenda in Seoul ahead of the 2026 Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for June 1.
