The princess also presented medical equipment gifts for all the schools of Tonga to use during sports so they do not heavily rely solely on the Red Cross.

To ensure that Tonga is well-positioned to respond effectively to the impacts of climate change, the government through the Department of Climate Change under MEIDECC held a National Loss and Damage Evidence Base Validation Workshop to look at draft findings of the evidence base of loss and damage in Tonga.

Aedes aegypti is a mosquito that can spread dengue fever, chikungunya, and other viruses, and disease agents. The mosquito can be recognized by black and white markings on its legs. A dengue fever outbreak was today declared by the Ministry of Health, after confirming six cases of dengue fever across Tonga. More cases are expected. The Ministry of Health stated the number of confirmed and suspected cases continues to increase in Tongatapu, Ha’apai and ‘Eua.

Lord Fakafanua announced today, 15 April 2026. PM Lord Fakafanua said at a media briefing today that the MP was no longer a member of Cabinet.

A 7-year-old boy remains at Vaiola Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for injuries after he fell from the back of a moving van, 14 April 2026 in Popua. The driver, a 31-year-old male from Patangata, currently residing at Fanga 'o Piloleva, has been arrested and remains in police custody. Tonga Police says the investigations into the incident are ongoing. "It is reported that the child fell from the back of a moving van onto the roadway," Tonga Police stated.
