PLYMOUTH — The city of Plymouth will have its first meeting of the new month on Aug. 10, 2026, beginning with the Board of Public Works and Safety at 6 p.m. On that agenda are reports from the various city department heads. Immediately following will be the meeting of the Common Council. On that agenda are scheduled second and third readings of the salary ordinance and first readings of an ordinance concerning the aviation rotary fund, and an ordinance fixing the salaries of elected officials.

BOURBON — On Monday, August 3,​ 2026, at 3:33 P.M., a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol in the area of Elm Rd. and Lincoln Highway. Suspicious activity was observed at one of the properties by the deputy, who stopped and investigated. It was determined that a man located on the property,​ identified as Breck K. Carper,​ was attempting to steal items. Carper was arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Theft.

PLYMOUTH — The Marshall County Council will meet at a special time on Monday, Aug. 10, starting at 9 a.m., in the second- floor meeting room of the County Building on Jefferson St. in Plymouth. On that agenda are subcommittee reports from Highway and Job Classification and Compensation. The board will hear requests from Billy Schoff of Buildings and Grounds, Jackie Franks of the Health Department, and President of the Commissioners Stan Klotz.

LaPAZ — On Aug. 5, 2026, at 4:14 p.m., the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 hang-up call in the 3,​000 block of Michigan Road. The dispatch center was unable to make contact with anybody over the phone, and they began sending messages to the phone. It was learned through these messages that a physical domestic incident was ​occurring. Deputies arrived on scene and located the suspect,​ Javier Figueroa,​ 25, as he was attempting to leave the residence.

PLYMOUTH – President of the Marshall County Commissioners, Stan Klotz, reported to the board that the results from the State Board of Accounts annual audit were in, and Marshall County passed with flying colors. Auditor Angie Birchmeier told the Commissioners that it was a team effort from her team and the county department heads.

PLYMOUTH — The City of Plymouth Utilities will be replacing a culvert at the intersection of E. Jefferson St. and Richter Rd. The work will require the roadway to be closed for approximately 5 days (weather permitting). The scheduled start date is August 12, 2026, at 8:00 AM. The roadway will be opened as soon as the pipe has been installed and paving is complete. There will be signage posted for the temporary detour.

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Mike Braun today declared a new statewide energy emergency and reinstituted his suspension of Indiana’s Gasoline Usage Tax and Gasoline Excise Tax through September 5, continuing nation-leading relief for Hoosiers from high gas prices. “New conditions that continue to disrupt global energy distribution provide a new basis for a suspension of gas taxes,” said Braun.

PLYMOUTH — The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a complaint of inappropriate behavior between the suspect, Anthony M. Ferree, 24, and a 13-year-old child. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Division of Child Services, started investigating the complaint. On Wednesday,​ Aug. 5,​ 2026,​ Lt. Detective Les McFarland, along with Detective Jonathan Bryant, went to Feree’s residence located on Forest View Drive​ in Plymouth​ for the investigation.

PLYMOUTH – In the latest in the local debate on the use of FLOCK cameras in Marshall County, Commissioner Jesse Bohannon asked for the board to review the contract for the use of the devices. Flock cameras are motion-activated automatic license plate reader (ALPR) cameras made by Flock Safety that capture vehicle details, log specific characteristics, and feed data into searchable police networks. Over 120,000 such devices operate across the United States.

PLYMOUTH — On Aug. 2, 2026, a search warrant was served at an address on N Michigan St. The warrant was a result of a child abuse case with information of drug use in the home. According to the police report, upon serving the warrant, drugs were located in the home.
