THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) β A man was partially sucked out of an airplane window shortly after takeoff Friday on a Ryanair flight from Greece to Germany, but nearby passengers pulled him back inside. A Greek hospital official said the 61-year-old passenger was treated for neck and shoulder injuries and friction burns. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly to the media.
Kia Launches New Recall After Fire-Risk Fix Falls Short
NEW YORK (AP) β Kia America has issued a new recall for nearly 463,000 of its Telluride SUVs, urging owners to again park their vehicles outside and away from buildings after several customers reported fires following previous repairs. The recall, announced this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, replaces a prior one Kia initiated in 2024.
Volkswagen Plans to Kill Off Half of Its Models
BERLIN (AP) — Volkswagen reported weak sales numbers on Friday, a day after the giant German automaker announced plans to slash the number of models by nearly half as sales plunged, particularly in China. The Wolfsburg, Germany-based company said group sales fell 8.6% in the second quarter to just under 2.1 million vehicles, with sales in China alone plummeted by more than one-third.
Sony Retraining Factory Workers After Scrapping PlayStation Discs
Sony earlier this month announced plans to end physical game disc production for all new games released on PlayStation consoles beginning January 2028. The consumer electronics giant has already started the transition. According to an ORF Salzburg report spotted by The Verge, Sony’s disc plant outside of Salzburg, Austria currently makes 600,000 discs every day. But that figure will soon drop significantly.
Mars Snack Brand to Shutter Missouri Plant, Cut Nearly 350 Jobs
Mars Inc. snack bar brand Nature’s Bakery plans to close its suburban St. Louis plant in a move that will cut 345 jobs, the subsidiary said this week. Nature’s Bakery LLC notified Missouri officials of its plans to shutter the Hazelwood facility on Tuesday. St. Louis Public Radio reported that the company intends to shift that production to other facilities, including a plant opened last year in Salt Lake City. The company intends to cut 130 jobs in September and 215 more in early 2027.

Micron Technology announced plans to invest up to $3 billion to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor supply-chain ecosystem. As part of the planned investment, the company will provide GlobalWafers with $500 million in strategic financing to advance the development and manufacturing capabilities of its GlobalWafers America 300mm raw silicon wafer manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas.

NEW YORK (AP) β Shares of South Korean memory chipmaker SK Hynix rose 14% as they made their debut on Wall Street, at a time when demand for chips is surging thanks to the frenzy around artificial intelligence. The company is already one of the largest in South Korea, along with Samsung Electronics, and is a member of the Kospi index. Even with a recent pullback, the country's Kospi index is up 77% so far this year and SK Hynix shares have more than tripled.
