Labor Day has come and gone, but the memories of summer still remain. For many, summer was a time to go on vacation or experience grand adventures. For others, the highlight of the summer was time spent celebrating births, weddings, graduations, and quality time with friends and family. Here's a look at what we did on our summer vacation.

Merritt, a corporate and real estate lawyer with 12 years of experience advising businesses, individuals, investment firms, and private equity organizations on a wide range of complex transactional, corporate governance and regulatory matters, has rejoined the firm.

Artificial intelligence continues to reshape how businesses create content, develop products, and manage their brands. At the same time, courts, regulators, and the USPTO are still working through how existing intellectual property laws apply to AI-assisted works, AI-generated outputs, and AI-enabled business tools. The Best Lawyers in America, the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession, has named 20 McAfee & Taft attorneys as "Lawyer of the Year" for 2027. Only a single lawyer in a specialty in each market is honored as "Lawyer of the Year." In the Oklahoma City market, attorneys named Best Lawyers 2027 "Lawyer of the Year" were Matthew J. McAfee & Taft is pleased to announce the further expansion of its top-ranked Energy and Natural Resources Group with the addition of highly experienced energy and regulatory attorneys Matthew J. Allen and John R. Reeves.

A total of 155 attorneys from McAfee & Taft were selected by their peers for inclusion in the recently released 2027 editions of The Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. This year, 114 McAfee & Taft attorneys were named to the 33rd edition of The Best Lawyers in American and another 41 were named to the sixth edition of its companion list, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, which recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated outstanding professional excellence earlier in their careers.

As a recent case demonstrates, favoring employees based on their religion can be as troublesome as penalizing employees for their religious beliefs. Religion at the hospital Stephanie Osei was employed as a nurse at Brookside Hospital Medical Center for 22 years. For the last three, she worked in the hospital's Surgical Intensive Care Unit, where she consistently received favorable evaluations from her supervisors. Dr. Adebayo Esan was a critical care physician in the SICU.
