We understand that bad faith actors such as the Free Speech Union and others have suggested the Muslim Council of Britain is an ‘extremist’ organisation and that we are somehow supporting a Government ‘cover-up’. Whilst not wishing to disappoint those trying to manufacture a sub Hollywood-grade movie plot, we published the below in the interest of clarity.

This past week, an Israeli drone killed 8-year-old Wafaa Akila and her father in Gaza City – hours after she’d gone back to school for the first time this year. She is amongst thousands of Palestinian children killed since the war began. Now Israel is targeting and calling for a ban on aid and humanitarian advocacy organisations that rush to save lives in the aftermath of attacks and or highlights Israeli violations.

Visit My Mosque Campaign 2025 The Muslim Council of Britain is hosting for its 11th year the flagship Visit My Mosque campaign taking place this weekend during 19th – 20th September which invites ordinary members of the public to visit local mosques to learn more about Islam and British Muslims.

“Twenty-five years ago today, we watched the first reports flicker across the screen, disbelief turning to horror the moment the second plane struck. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones. Within hours, a friend in Hong Kong called me from a room full of strangers, all listening in, waiting for the only Muslim any of them knew to explain the unexplainable. That burden of ordinary Muslims made to account for a crime that was not theirs has never fully lifted.

The UK government’s upcoming announcement to ban trade with illegal settlements in Israel is welcome, but long overdue. This is not a matter of opinion. The UK is bound by international obligations, which it has failed to uphold, falling short of our moral and legal responsibilities following the ICJ’s ruling of July 2024, which found that Israel’s 57-year occupation, annexation and ongoing control of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip violate international law.

The Muslim Council of Britain is dismayed by the Chief Rabbi’s attempt to recast a modest UK measure against illegal settlement trade with Israel as contributing to the rise of anti-semitism or mere “domestic politics.” Let’s be clear about what is being defended: settlements built in flagrant violation of international law, on occupied Palestinian land. Opposing action against that is not a neutral position. It is advocacy for the continued occupation and theft of Palestinian land and homes.

We are appalled by the scenes across Republika Srpska and Serbia’s announcement that convicted genocidaire Ratko Mladić will be buried with “highest military and state honours.” Mladić was convicted by an international tribunal for the genocide of over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys at Srebrenica in 1995, alongside the siege of Sarajevo and ethnic cleansing across Bosnia.

In a BBC radio interview on 6th August, Restore Britain’s leader Rupert Lowe was challenged by BBC journalist Nick Robinson. Aside from refusing to say whether he believes King Charles is a “white Briton”… Lowe also said some areas of Manchester are British and others are “more Muslim areas”.

The so-called policy of government non-engagement with the Muslim Council of Britain is once again being pushed by bad-faith actors in legacy media, despite Freedom of Information (FOI) requests confirming that no such policy appears to exist in writing at any government department approached.
