The inaugural Dubai Anesthesia Conference and Exhibition (DACE 2026) opened in Dubai, bringing together healthcare professionals and industry experts to discuss advances in anaesthesia, pain management, critical care and perioperative medicine. Taking place at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre from September 5–6, the event has attracted more than 350 participants from 14 countries, alongside over 35 speakers and more than 20 participating companies.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has validated Bhutan’s elimination of dog-transmitted human rabies as a public health problem, making the country the first in the WHO South-East Asia Region to achieve this milestone. Rabies is almost always fatal once clinical symptoms develop, but deaths can be prevented through timely vaccination and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

Timor-Leste has achieved a major public health milestone after the World Health Organization (WHO) validated the country’s elimination of trachoma as a public health problem. Trachoma is a bacterial eye infection and a leading infectious cause of blindness worldwide. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has issued social media advertising standards requiring licensed healthcare professionals to maintain separate personal and professional accounts when using social media for medical communication or advertising. The guidelines also advise doctors and other healthcare professionals not to interact with current or former patients through their personal accounts.
