New Partnership to Strengthen NSW’s Public Gallery Network
After many years of working in close collaboration, Museums & Galleries of NSW (M&G NSW) and Regional & Public Galleries of NSW (RPGNSW) have recently signed an agreement to enter into a more formal partnering arrangement. RPGNSW is a member-based peak organisation representing 49 publicly funded galleries across regional and metropolitan NSW, including public galleries, contemporary art spaces and art museums.

Museums of History NSW (MHNSW) and Museums & Galleries of NSW (M&G NSW) have formalised a renewed partnership agreement that will strengthen support for museums and galleries across New South Wales. The agreement builds on a long and productive history of collaboration between the two organisations and reflects a shared commitment to building the capacity of the state’s cultural sector, particularly in regional communities.

2026 Volunteer Museum Grant Program – Round 1 Recipients Announced - MGNSW
The first round of the 2026 Volunteer Museum Grant Program, administered by Museums & Galleries of NSW, was assessed on 27 May 2026 by an independent three-member assessment panel. The panel considered 21 applications from volunteer-run museums and Aboriginal cultural centres across New South Wales, awarding funding to 13 organisations.
Insights: Creating a Time Portal at Scone Museum
Time Portal transforms a historic jail cell into an immersive digital artwork. What inspired you to reinterpret this unique museum space, and how did the museum’s collection shape the final installation? Suzannah Jones: I first came across the historic cell three years ago while working on another project at Scone Museum and immediately saw its potential. It was being used as storage at the time, but the museum members had already been thinking about activating the space publicly.
