It was only a matter of time before progress caught up with Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. A Magic Kingdom favorite since 1975 (and a Disney attraction since the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair), the classic rotating theater will close on July 6, 2026, to make way for a substantially updated version set to debut in 2027. The refreshed show will introduce new decades, a new timeline, and even a new Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney himself.
