The update matters because it provides new operating and impact figures for one of India's established commercial rural microgrid portfolios.

Fermi Inc. and Hillcore Energy Capital Corporation announced Aug. 11 a framework agreement for the Fermi Hillcore power complex, an approximately 2.6 GW behind-the-meter energy development planned for Fermi's Project Matador AI campus in Carson County, Texas. The agreement matters because it would add a large block of dedicated generation to one of the country's most ambitious data-center power projects as developers increasingly pursue on-site energy to overcome grid-access constraints.

The AEIC Grid Advancement Program begins August 11 with a utility working session focused on building a weather- and wildfire-resilient electric grid, launching a 10-month initiative designed to address operational challenges ranging from grid-capacity constraints to distributed energy resource integration. The program matters because utilities are simultaneously confronting severe-weather risks, aging infrastructure and rapidly changing electricity demand.

The artificial intelligence boom depends on physical infrastructure that is becoming harder to protect. That is now becoming harder to ignore. The state ranks 14th in the country for installed solar capacity, and roughly one in seven Massachusetts homes is powered by rooftop solar. Those numbers sound solid.
