House prices are falling across most of the country, including here in Canberra. You’d think that would make housing more affordable, right? Well, apparently not! According to the latest realestate.com.au Housing Affordability Report, a typical household earning about $125,000 could afford just 12% of homes sold. That’s the lowest proportion on record and down from 43% only 5 years ago. So how can property prices fall, while housing becomes less affordable?
