The newly constructed building housing The Learning Experience at 9963 Stedwick Road in Montgomery Village has sold for $8.25 million, according to Maryland Newsletters. The daycare is expected to continue operating with no changes. Maryland Newsletters reports that Ganges Gaithersburg LLC sold the approximately 12,000 SF building to an Illinois-based buyer. The 11,972 SF preschool and daycare facility is located at Montgomery Village Marketplace, adjacent to Montgomery Village Center.

Gaithersburg Published September 9, 2026 at 10:23PM Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a two-vehicle collision at Route 355 and Watkins Mill Road in Gaithersburg around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, people were evaluated at the scene, with no life-threatening injuries reported. The collision resulted in property damage and blocked some lanes in the area.

Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream has delayed the planned September 10 opening of its first Maryland location at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. As of September 9, the shop hopes to open within the week, but an updated opening date has not been announced. The Pittsburgh-based ice cream shop will be located at 202 Ellington Boulevard in the space most recently occupied by The Crepe Shoppe before its relocation to 230 Crown Park Avenue.

Gaithersburg Published September 9, 2026 at 8:12PM Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a serious motorcycle collision Wednesday evening near Downtown Crown and RIO Washingtonian. The collision occurred around 7:15 p.m. on the ramp from eastbound Sam Eig Highway to southbound I-270. According to MCFRS, a single motorcycle struck a guardrail. One person was transported as a Priority 1 trauma patient, indicating life-threatening injuries.

The 2026 NFL season kicks off tonight with a Montgomery County connection, as Germantown native Brian Fleury makes his regular-season debut as the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator in a Super Bowl rematch against the New England Patriots. The defending champions will host New England at 8:20pm on NBC and Peacock, seven months and one day after defeating the Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl 60.

The AFI Latin American Film Festival will return to Silver Spring September 16-October 7, bringing 43 films from 21 countries to the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. Now in its 37th year, the festival celebrates Latin American cinema during National Hispanic Heritage Month. According to AFI, this year’s lineup includes 12 U.S. and North American premieres, along with filmmaker Q&As and special receptions.

Mango Lina, a growing dessert and snack chain with locations in Virginia and Prince George’s County, will open a new food truck in Rockville on Monday, September 14. The food truck will be located at the Shell gas station at 2240 Veirs Mill Road, with a grand opening scheduled for 1 p.m. Mango Lina also plans to give away T-shirts as part of the celebration. Founded in 2019, Mango Lina currently operates locations in Springfield, Langley Park, Woodbridge and Sterling.

Montgomery County’s Ride On Glenmont Express Shuttle will continue operating through Wednesday, September 30, as transportation officials monitor ridership to determine whether the service should continue long term. The free shuttle launched in response to Metro’s partial Red Line closure from July 6 through September 6. It provides direct service between Milestone Park-and-Ride, Shady Grove Metro Station, and Glenmont Metro Station.

The Prince George’s County Animal Shelter is asking for help finding placements for dogs on its “Length of Stay – Urgent” list, warning that they are at risk of euthanasia if they do not leave the shelter by the close of business on Tuesday, September 15. The shelter says it is currently at full capacity and is seeking adopters, fosters, and assistance from rescue partners to find placements for the dogs before the deadline.

Montgomery County has activated a new weather station in Laytonsville as part of an expansion intended to improve local weather monitoring and help emergency officials respond to severe storms, flooding, and other hazards. The station, installed at the Oaks Landfill, went live on September 2 and marks the first locally funded extension of the Maryland Mesonet, a network of automated weather stations operated by the University of Maryland.
