An MSF logistician and a doctor are walking down a street. Or at least the remains of one: the street has been bombed beyond recognition at some point during the past 27 months. They’re trying to scout a place to set up a new MSF clinic, to provide healthcare to people in this particularly hard-to-access area in the north of the Gaza Strip. Their phones vibrate simultaneously. “You're getting close to the red zone. Take care my friend,” reads the message. That’s from me.

As I write, MSF teams are working around the clock to prepare a large-scale response to the Ebola disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). On Sunday, the World Health Organization declared the situation to be a "public health emergency of international concern". Since then, the outbreak has spread further. More than 500 suspected cases and 140 deaths have been reported in the DRC, with two cases confirmed across the border in Uganda.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), MSF teams are preparing to launch large-scale actions to help contain the sudden surge in Ebola cases. So far, there have been more than 240 cases and 80 deaths reported in the country's eastern province of Ituri, with one case confirmed across the border in Uganda. The World Health Organization has now declared the situation to be a "public health emergency of international concern".

The beginning of this month saw a dramatic escalation in conflict across the Middle East, following strikes by US and Israeli forces in Iran and Iran’s subsequent retaliatory actions. Across the region, this escalation is deepening fear and insecurity for millions of people. Bombing continues across cities and villages, with casualties rising. Staggeringly, around a quarter of Lebanon's population is now under evacuation orders issued by Israeli forces.

MSF was forced to suspend activities in Libya on 27 March 2025 after the Internal Security Agency (ISA) of Libya closed our premises. We are concerned for our former patients, including the migrants and refugees we were treating for tuberculosis. We are willing to resume our activities in Libya should the safety of our staff and patients be guaranteed.

Jerusalem – As international focus shifts to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, Israeli forces have ramped up their activities in the West Bank, Palestine. Increased military operations in Jenin, Nablus, and Tulkarem governorates, along with additional troop deployments, have led to heightened restrictions on Palestinians.

بعد سبع سنوات من الدعم الحيوي الذي قدّمته أطباء بلا حدود، أصبحت السلطات الصحية المحلية في ولاية إيبوني مجهزة بشكل جيد لتقديم الرعاية لمرضى حمى لاسا، إذ تحسّنت البنية التحتية وتلقّت الطواقم التدريب اللازم مما ساهم في إنقاذ حياة الناس وتعزيز  الثقة في نظام الرعاية الصحية.
