Blue Angels shows at Pensacola Beach July 16-18
The 2026 Pensacola Beach Air Show will be July 16-18 and feature, of course, Pensacola’s hometown heroes, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, as headliners. The annual includes a full lineup of top-tier aerobatic performers, ground exhibits, and military demonstrations, culminating with the official air show on Saturday, July 18. At approximately 11:40 a.m., the official air box will close and the lifeguards will clear the water.
It’s Now Easier To Support Barrancas Wreaths
Kiwanis of Big Lagoon has implemented a new software system to make it easier for supporters to order veterans’ memorial wreaths at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard NAS Pensacola in two easy steps. Remember, Honor, and Teach the sacrifices of your loved ones and help the local Kiwanians recognize the over 50,000 other veterans of conflicts dating back to before the Civil War.
It Takes A Village
In collaboration with Orange Beach Fire Rescue, the Orange Beach Wildlife Center staff was able to access a nest and place one of its Osprey chicks with a new family. The Osprey has been doing well thus far – and mom has been spotted feeding the newest addition to her clutch! The center still has one baby in need of a nest. Contact the Wildlife Center if you know of a nest that is accessible via fire truck and only has 1-2 babies in it.
Early morning fire destroys two Bear Point homes
An early morning fire in Orange Beach’s Bear Point neighborhood on June 27 destroyed two homes, with firefighters reporting that after one home was fully engulfed, a neighboring house caught fire. Two vehicles were also completely destroyed. One of the displaced families lost everything in the fire and one family’s dog perished. The fire was reported at 2:20 a.m. on Bayshore Drive North. A third home sustained minor damage.

GSHS dual sport star Al.com’s Male Athlete of the Year
Gulf Shores High School football wide receiver and track star Carter Davis (pictured) was recently named the Al.Com Coastal Male Athlete of the Year. A West Virgnia signee in football, Davis set a new Alabama High School Athletic Assn. record in the 60 meter dash at the state championship indoor track meet. His 6.76-second time ranked as the seventh-fastest 60-meter time in the nation for the 2026 indoor season.
Applications for Chamber’s Coastal Alabama Leadership League open thru July 31
Applications for the 2026-27 Coastal Alabama Leadership League are open through July 31 for any person willing to attend an overnight retreat and meet monthly for day long sessions. The program is sponsored by the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber. Participants will meet monthly for daylong sessions to learn leadership skills and why Coastal Alabama community the best place to live, work, and play.
Blue Marlin Grand Championship weigh-ins July 17-18 at The Wharf
Public events related to the “Greatest Show in Sportfishing,” the Blue Marlin Grand Championship, are scheduled July 16-18 at The Wharf in Orange Beach, with fan friendly weigh-ins, hosted by Jim Cox and Kelly Finley, set for 5-7 p.m. on July 17 and 5-8 p.m. on July 18.
