Family friendly evening event raises funds for endangered wolves The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will host the family friendly Harvest Moon Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy after-hours Zoo access, nocturnal animal activities, animal meet-and-greets, a hay maze, s’mores, bounce houses, and a DJ Glow Party. Registration is officially open for the Witches & Werewolves Paddle scheduled Oct. 24 at Galvez Landing on Innerarity Point beginning at noon. Participants of all experience levels are welcome, whether they arrive as witches, werewolves, or another creature of the night. Participants should bring their own kayak, canoe, or paddleboard, paddle, personal flotation device, and weather-appropriate clothing. Proceeds benefit Feeding the Gulf Coast.

South Baldwin Community Theater will present its first production of the season, The Play That Goes Wrong, for six shows from Sept. 18-27 at the Gulf Shores theater. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 p.m., and the two Sunday matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at sbct.biz ($15 for students and $23 for adults). South Baldwin Community Theatre line-up for its 55th season in Gulf Shores will feature 11 productions following this month’s The Play That Goes Wrong. • A benefit event supporting The Parrot Head Emergency Foundation, “An Afternoon with Peter, Jim and Brendan Mayer”, is scheduled Oct. 22. • “The Wind in the Willows” will be Nov. 6–15. • Four A Change presents “Our Favorite Things” Dec. 3–4, with tickets priced at $25. • “Christmas Radio Theatre”is Dec. 11-13. • “I Hate Hamlet” is scheduled for Jan. 7–17.

American Legion Post 44 in Gulf Shores will host the Pour Tour, a fundraiser for the on Saturday, Sept. 26 beginning with registration at 11 a.m. and ending with a prize party back at Post from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $30, and participants will receive an event T-shirt, wristband, and koozie at check-in and Coast Cab will be available to transport participants to the three tour spots for $20.

The public and all pets are invited to a Blessing of the Animals at the Gulf Shores Dog Park from 10 a.m. ‘til noon. Each pet will be blessed individually. The park is located at 308 Clubhouse Dr. at the intersection of Clubhouse Dr. and West 2nd St., near the Bodenhamer Rec Center. The City of Gulf Shores September Sunset Series at Gulf Shores Public Beach concludes on Sept. 17 with a Frank Brown International Songwriters Fest show from 6-8 p.m. on the Town Green. The Wilson Brothers will open from 5-6 p.m., and Nashville hit songwriter Craig Campbell and Gulf Coast favorite Johnny Hayes will play from 6-8 p.m. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will be onsite, selling beverages for all ages and featuring a food truck for patrons wishing to purchase food.

Locals finish in top one percent among 50K competitors Barrie Nichols and David Ross, residents of GlenLakes in Foley, advanced to the quarter-finals in the America’s Favorite Couple competition; and although they fell short of the $20,000 winners’ prize, they finished in the top one percent of the 50,000 couples nationwide vying for the prize. “There are thousands of couples across the country competing, so this milestone is incredibly special to us,’’ Nichols said.
