Mid Murray Council names its new CEO
An experienced local government executive has been appointed the next CEO of the Mid Murray Council. Andrew Johnson will start with the council on August 10 after a “comprehensive” recruitment process. His resume includes stints as CEO of the Walkerville and Port Pirie councils; board roles with the Local Government Association of SA and other sector bodies; and a background in economics and accountancy. Dr Johnson said he looked forward to becoming part of the community.
Murray Bridge photography clubs merge
A new chapter has begun for photographers across the Murraylands, with the Murraylands Community Photography Club now formally recognised as a subgroup of the Murray Bridge International Photography Club. The agreement was decided upon at a meeting at the Murray Bridge Showgrounds last Friday evening, and will strengthen the relationship between the two clubs while allowing the Murraylands Community Photography Club to continue operating independently.
Come and get your cheap electricity, Housing Trust tenants
Housing Trust tenants interested in a discount on their power bills are being encouraged to register with a new state government scheme. Empowering SA will offer a 26% discount to eligible Housing Trust tenants whose properties do not already have solar power or a battery. The discount will start once a “community battery” comes online in Murray Bridge. The government had previously told residents they would not need to register for the discount.

Sports reports: David McDonald triumphs in the wet at Monarto

Six TR and five F-class shooters have braved the wintery conditions at the Deed Range at Monarto on Saturday to compete in the second round of the new championship year for the Murray Bridge Rifle Club from a distance of 500 metres. The weather varied between cold and wet and cold and very wet, but the wind stayed reasonably consistent from right for the duration, giving competitors a fair chance during the afternoon.
