The Missouri Tigers intercollegiate athletics programs represent the University of Missouri, located in Columbia. The name comes from a band of armed Union Home Guards called the Fighting Tigers of Columbia who, in 1864, protected Columbia from Confederate guerrillas during the American Civil War.

The University of Missouri (often referred to as Mizzou or MU) is the flagship institution of the University of Missouri System. Mizzou is a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and is the only NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision program in Missouri. Its wrestling program, the only wrestling program sponsored by an SEC member school, competes as an affiliate member of the Big 12 Conference. Source

Aeoden Sinclair Wins Wrestling U20 World Championship
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou All-American Aeoden Sinclair claimed freestyle gold at the U20 World Wrestling Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia, on Friday, August 21. The win marks the first U20 Champion for Mizzou since Keegan O’Toole (74 kg) and Rocky Elam (92 kg) in 2021, and the first age-level world champion since O’Toole (74 kg) became a U23 Champion in 2023.
Softball Sets 2026 Fall Ball Schedule
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou softball announced its 2026 fall schedule on Friday, Aug. 21, featuring five home games and a matchup against Professional Softball League (PSL) member – Kansas City Diamonds. All five home exhibitions will be played at Mizzou Softball Stadium and will be free to the public. The Tigers open the fall season at home with a 10-inning game against in-state rival, Missouri State, at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.

Four Tigers Named Preseason All-SEC by League Coaches
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Four Mizzou football student-athletes were named to the 2026 Coaches Preseason All-SEC team, the league office announced on Wednesday. The team was voted on by all 16 of the league’s head coaches. Running back and returning consensus All-American Ahmad Hardy was selected to the first team along with senior left tackle Cayden Green.
Swimming and Diving Finalizes New Titles for 2026-27 Season
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou swimming & diving program finishes the offseason with an organizational shift that includes new titles for all returning coaching staff, head coach Andrew Grevers announced Tuesday, August 18. Head coach Andrew Grevers will receive a new title – director of swimming and diving – as he returns for his eighth full season with the Black and Gold. During the 2025-26 season, he led alumnus Collier Dyer to the program’s first-ever National Championship title in diving.
Sinclair, Morales Head to U20 Wrestling World Championship
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou wrestling and the Tiger Style Wrestling Club are preparing to send two representatives to the U20 Freestyle World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, starting on Thursday, Aug. 20. All-American Aeoden Sinclair will be representing the United States at 86kg, while incoming freshman Yandel Morales will be representing Puerto Rico at 65kg.
Softball Set to Compete in Inaugural Diamonds University Fall Classic
KANSAS CITY – Mizzou softball, in collaboration with the Kansas City Diamonds, will compete in the inaugural Diamonds University Classic presented by Hy-Vee, the organizations announced on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The Tigers will play the second weekend, taking on the Diamonds and Wichita State on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Kansas City, Kansas. This competition will be a key part of MU’s fall slate, as it will be the first time the Tigers take on a professional organization in an exhibition.
