New faces, same expectations for Bulldog boys soccer
The Virgin Valley Bulldog boys soccer team was 3A State semifinalists last year, but graduated a lot of that team and enter the season with a lot of new faces on the pitch. MVHS girls volleyball to build on last year’s success
The Moapa Valley High School girls volleyball team made a surprise run to the 3A Regional Championship match and pushed The Meadows Mustangs to five sets as the fourth seed in the region. Then the Lady Pirates continued their run to the 3A State Championship, ultimately falling to the Mustangs once again. Much of that roster is back this year, making MVHS an immediate contender.

VVHS tennis returns key contributors and lots of newcomers
Both the Virgin Valley High School boys and girls tennis teams lost in the quarterfinals of the Southern 3A Playoffs last season. Key contributors Justin and Logan Andrus return to the boys team after finishing third in the Southern 3A Doubles Playoffs last year. It was a double loss for the Dawgs, as outstanding running back Drew Dixon injured his hamstring early in the second period and could not return to the game. Local authorities were happy to report that things went smoothly and remained on the quiet side for the first week of school. Photo courtesy of Beaver Dam Fire Beaver Dam Fire responded to a semi-truck trailer fire on Thursday, Aug 13. The Mesquite Police weekly arrest report showed there were 19 arrests for the week, lower than the usual total. Four arrests were for use or possession of illicit drugs or paraphernalia, while two arrests were for driving under the influence.
