The Rhenish 1st XI Hockey team took part in the Greg Beling Hockey Festival in East London over the weekend, achieving some brilliant results: They won 4 - 0 against Clarendon Girls’ High School. They won 6 - 0 against Voortrekker. They won 3 - 0 against Oranje. They won 5 - 1 against St Anne’s. They won 3 - 2 against Eunice. A special congratulations went to their captain, Leah du Plessis, who celebrated an incredible milestone by earning her 150th cap in the match against Clarendon.

Last week, two highly anticipated hockey fixtures took place, marking a significant start to the home season for the Oranje hockey teams. After a series of early festival games, the girls were thrilled to kick off their season on home turf, with the weather providing perfect conditions for the matches despite the chilly evenings. The Menlo Park game was the highlight, scheduled under the Friday night lights, while down the road, the boys also played their games at Grey.

Highway Regional Champs, Spar KZN Girls School Tournament (News: 11 Mar 2025)
Too hot to handle, St Mary’s D.S.G. were crowned champions for the fourteenth time in the Highway Regional of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge at Curro Hillcrest on Saturday 8 March. In the blistering heat, defending champs, St Mary’s met Kloof High School in the regional final. This was the second time in the fifteen years of the tournament that the two teams faced each other in the concluding game, the last time in 2019 where St Mary’s dominated the clash.
Hermanus at Spar Girls Tournament
Hermanus High at the Spar Girls Western Cape Festival It is a regional event in which both the 1sts and U16A teams participated. Both teams gained valuable learning experiences. The matches were played in and around Cape Town. Despite the results, the girls gave their best, played well-worked hockey, and put in the effort required at this level. Although it is early in the season and there is still much to learn, it was an incredible experience.
