In Memory: Obituary – Giuseppe Spoto, Age 86
Giuseppe Spoto, of Rye, NY passed away on Sept 9, 2026 at the age of 86. Born in Alessandria della Rocca in Sicily, Italy on March 10, 1940 to Pietro and Angela Spoto. He immigrated to the United States in 1958 working as a sous chef at an Italian restaurant at night while attending school during the day to learn English. Through hard work and determination, he eventually landed his dream job at Luna’s Restaurant on Mulberry Street in Little Italy in New York City.
In Memory: Sonia Helena Kragh, Age 82
Sonia Helena Kragh passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at the age of 82 in her daughter’s home in Syracuse, NY. Born on January 23, 1944, to Czechoslovak diplomat Dr. Antonin and Sonia Obrdlik. She spent her early years in Czechoslovakia before her family relocated to New York in 1947 for her father’s role at the United Nations. Sonia grew up in Rye, New York, graduating high school with honors in 1961. She spent many cherished summers at her family’s farm in Buell’s Gore, Vermont.

Sports Season Outlook: 2026 Rye Girls Varsity Tennis Team
