WRGX-TV (Dothan, AL)
VerifiedTelevision
WRGX-LD is a low-powered, dual NBC/CW+-affiliated television station licensed to Dothan, Alabama, United States and serving the Wiregrass Region of southeastern Alabama. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on virtual and UHF channel 23 from a transmitter in Bethlehem, Florida. Owned by Gray Television, it is a sister station to dual CBS/MyNetworkTV affiliate WTVY (channel 4). The two outlets share studios on North Foster Street in Downtown Dothan.
In order to increase its over-the-air reach, the station's NBC and CW+ programming is simulcast in 16:9 widescreen standard definition on WTVY's fourth and third digital subchannels, respectively. These full-market feeds can be seen on UHF channel 36.4/36.3 (or virtual channel 4.4/4.3 via PSIP) from the same Bethlehem tower. On weekdays, WTVY produces two thirty-minute newscasts (at 4 and 5:30 p.m.) that are exclusive to WRGX. As a result, this station airs the NBC Nightly News on tape delay at 6 p.m. unlike most NBC outlets in the Central Time Zone. Source
