The teams couldn't be separated at 83 points apiece at the end of regulation, and again after the first overtime, before the Tall Blacks prevailed 106-102.

Cairns Taipans Next Star Luke Paul has capped off a stellar campaign at the FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey by being named to the tournament's All-Star Five. The teenage sensation averaged 15.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. His ability to fill the stat sheet helped propel the Crocs to a bronze medal finish, the first time Australia has claimed a medal at the tournament since 2014.

The Tasmania JackJumpers have continued to build on an impressive off-season, with the club announcing it has re-signed Bryce Hamilton for two years. The star forward made an instant impact in his first season, averaging 17.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists before sadly going down with an ACL injury. Hamilton’s first professional stint abroad was influential, with the 25-year-old selected to the All-NBL Second Team, despite missing the back half of the season.

As a result the Crocs have scored their best finish at an U17 World Cup since a silver medal performance at both 2012 and 2014.

He’s a veteran of over 500 NBA games and an NBL champion, but Torrey Craig now has another big achievement to his name, with a game-winning shot for the USA in World Cup Qualifiers. The Sydney Kings star was one of four players with NBL experience lining up for the Americans against the Dominican Republic. USA were behind by two points with 20 seconds remaining, before Craig came up with the biggest play of the night.

Photo: fiba.basketball The dream run of the Australian Crocs at the FIBA U17 World Cup couldn’t quite continue with the USA taking control of the semi-final in the second half for the eventual 114-65 victory. The Crocs had put together an understanding tournament to reach the semi finals undefeated including Friday night's quarter-final win against Canada to enter the semis with confidence of taking the challenge up to the United States.

Melbourne United is reportedly leading the race to sign former Tasmania JackJumpers guard Sean Macdonald, according to CODE Sports. Matt Logue reports Macdonald recently toured United’s facilities, with Melbourne one of four clubs showing interest alongside Illawarra, Perth and South East Melbourne. The 26-year-old was named the NBL’s Most Improved Player during Tasmania’s championship-winning NBL24 campaign, before his progress was interrupted by two serious ACL injuries in recent years.
