FY 2022 State Budget Status
10/12/2021 Introduction NCSL tracks states' enactment of their FY 2022 budgets. Forty-six states begin fiscal year (FY) 2022 on July 1, 2021. New York began its fiscal year on April 1. Alabama and Michigan begin their fiscal year on Oct. 1, and Texas begins its fiscal year on Sept. 1. As of October 12, 49 states have enacted a budget for FY 2022. Virginia and Wyoming enacted a biennial budget during the 2020 legislative session.
