The Boston Bruins have two obvious candidates to become their next captain. Team president Cam Neely, however, is not convinced the organization needs to select either one. Boston played the entire 2025-26 season without a captain after trading Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers in March 2025. David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm instead wore alternate captain letters under first-year head coach Marco Sturm. That arrangement may continue for another season.

The Boston Red Sox have played very well under interim skipper Chad Tracy, though that doesn't necessarily mean they'll hire him as their next head coach. The Red Sox ultimately have to decide whether to give Tracy more chances or go with a veteran-led head coach. As of now, the Red Sox have to love what Tracy has done, as everything has gone according to plan since moving on from Alex Cora. Cora, speaking of which, finds himself in a position of leverage.

Most NFL players go through tough times, but how they handle them is usually completely different. Some players want to vent to the media, others want to post things on social media, and many more just don't want to be as good a teammate as they need to be when things aren't going right. That could be something that wide receiver Kayshon Boutte decides to do with the New England Patriots, but according to everybody who's spoken about the situation, it's far from that.

The New England Patriots’ offensive line depth deteriorated quickly enough to force an immediate response. New England reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with veteran guard Greg Van Roten on Monday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The 36-year-old joins the Patriots after injuries removed their top two backup options along the interior offensive line. Van Roten worked out for New England on Aug. 6 but left Foxboro without signing a contract.

The Boston Red Sox have had the pleasure of watching some of the greatest players in Major League Baseball history put on their jersey. At the top of that list is David Ortiz, the now 50-year-old former first baseman and designated hitter who is a Hall of Famer, three-time World Series champion, and 10-time All-Star.

The Boston Red Sox returned home needing a spark. Instead, the entire lineup caught fire. All nine Boston starters drove in at least one run Monday as the Red Sox demolished the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-1 at Fenway Park. Boston piled up 16 hits, scored in six consecutive innings and did not strike out once. It was a complete reversal for an offense that struggled during a disappointing 2-5 road trip through Toronto and Pittsburgh.

NFL teams will have to make cuts sooner rather than later, including the New England Patriots. As the Patriots and other teams make those decisions, it could directly affect what New England wants to do with Kayshon Boutte. Boutte has impressed throughout his career and is far from a bad player, but he might not have a great spot on this team right now.
