The 2025-2026 season is all about development for the Brooklyn Nets. The team is all in on a new era and are building for a new era. Sean Marks and the Nets hope that the young talent find their way and grow into potential All Stars. So far, their draft picks from the 2025 Draft have provided reasons for optimism. However, their biggest move of the season involved their 2021 Draft pick. Cam Thomas has been a point of contention since he was drafted back in 2021.

The NBA preseason is all about fine tuning things. The games don’t count in the standings, so there’s less pressure than what you experience during the 82 game trek. That gives you an opportunity to experiment and apply some of the early lessons of training camp in live game settings. A good showing in the preseason can serve as a springboard to a promising regular season. And for the Brooklyn Nets, the preseason debut of one of their youngest players is cause for optimism.

Everyone needs a sense of purpose. Purpose gives you a reason to what you do, point you on the path you need to go on, and give you a goal to work for. When you don’t have purpose, you find yourself drifting aimlessly. For a while, that’s what it looked like for the Brooklyn Nets. However as the 2024-2025 season progresses, their purpose and vision is clearer than ever. When the Nets traded Kevin Durant in 2023, they were thrust into a new era.

You have to show up. When you show up consistently, people take notice. The work speaks for itself as you do your best to uplift those around you. That work builds community and ensures that things begin to move in a positive direction. For the Brooklyn Nets, community building takes on various forms. Since they purchased the Nets and New York Liberty in 2019, Joe and Clara Wu Tsai have been active across Brooklyn.

“When times get hard, he has fortitude.” The road to stardom isn’t an easy one. There are many bumps in the road and plenty of moments when you wonder if all of it is worth it. Those struggles can be overwhelming, but if you make it through, it gives you newfound strength and a drive to keep going. For Cam Thomas, his journey has taken from unknown prospect to budding NBA star. On November 18, “From Chesapeake to Brooklyn” debuted at Cobble Hill Cinemas.

Mikal Bridges is coming off a career year. Despite the Brooklyn Nets missing out on the play-in this year, Bridges was one of their bright spots. Given the keys to the offense, Bridges averaged 19.6 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists. The sixth year wing out of Villanova shot 43.6 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from downtown and 81.4 percent at the free throw line. The former Wildcat is the current iron man of the NBA as he has yet to miss a game in his six year career.

Supporting the community has been a big goal of the Brooklyn Nets, and fans saw it in action again last month. On April 24, the Nets held a basketball camp for kids in the Brooklyn area. As part of Brooklyn Basketball, the Nets and New York Liberty work to give back to the community. Nets forward Cam Johnson, who has been an active part of the Brooklyn community, led the camp. A camp attendee, Able Burrell, spoke to PIX 11 about the clinic.

After a solid start through eight league matches to the 2024 Major League Soccer season, the New York Red Bulls sit tied atop the Supporters’ Shield standings on 15 points alongside the LA Galaxy and Inter Miami. Under new leadership in Sandro Schwarz and Designated Player captain Emil Forsberg, the Red Bulls have hit a new stride of success and quality play that has pushed them to the top of MLS’s Eastern Conference. .@InterMiamiCF takes over the top spot in the East.

Throughout a long season, good moments keep one uplifted and excited for what’s next. For Day’Ron Sharpe and the Brooklyn Nets, those moments have laid the foundation for an exciting future. Sharpe was drafted No. 29 in the 2021 NBA draft and came over to the Nets from the Phoenix Suns in a summer trade for Landry Shamet. Sharpe was projected as a solid big man, but there were questions about his ability to succeed at the pro level.

2023 ended in familiar fashion for the New York Red Bulls and their fans: elimination from the First Round of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. 3 months, a new head coach and a star signing Designated Player later, New York’s original MLS club are gearing up for what they hope to be a more fruitful 2024.
