MILO, NY — Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire on East Lake Road on Wednesday afternoon. The Yates County 911 Center received a call about a possible structure fire at 471 E Lake Road at approximately 12:35 p.m. Penn Yan Fire Department responded to the scene along with fire departments from Benton, Dresden, Dundee and Himrod. The home suffered fire, smoke and water damage as a result of the blaze. No injuries were reported.
Animal abuser added to registry in Wayland
WAYLAND, NY — A Wayland man has been added to the Steuben County Animal Abuser Registry following a conviction for animal cruelty. Emmett A. Sherlock, 30, also known as Bucky, was convicted of violating New York State Agriculture and Markets Law Section 353, which prohibits overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, as well as failure to provide proper sustenance. The conviction was handed down by East Bethany Town Court.
Man arrested on assault charge in Westford
WESTFORD, NY — A Worcester man surrendered to authorities after a two-day search following a motor vehicle crash on Rabbit Run Road. William W. Killenberger, 39, of Worcester, was arrested Aug. 7, 2026, and charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office said Killenberger intentionally rear-ended a vehicle at a high rate of speed, causing the victim’s vehicle to roll over.
Police seek missing woman in Oswego
OSWEGO, NY — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 29-year-old woman. Hannah S. Kozel was last seen at approximately 12:30 p.m. Friday in the area of Chestnut Street in Oswego. Kozel is described as approximately 5 feet tall, 150 pounds with dark blonde hair. She was last seen wearing cutoff denim jeans and a shirt of unknown color, and was carrying a tan purse. Anyone with information on Kozel’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Oswego Police Department at 315-342-8120.

PARIS, NY — A Paris man was arrested following an investigation into a domestic incident, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol. Timothy Skjellerup, 48, of Paris, was arrested on Aug. 7, 2026, on charges related to a domestic incident that occurred on Aug. 6, 2026.
Woman arrested on domestic charges in Rome
ROME, NY — A woman was arrested following a domestic incident on Turin Road on Aug. 6, 2026. Road Patrol Deputies responded to the outer district of Rome for a domestic in progress, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol. After making initial contact, Deputies cleared the residence but were called back a short time later. It was learned that after Deputies left, the suspect made unwanted physical contact with the victim and then spit on him. Jennifer L.
Man arrested on child sex assault charge in Oneida
ONEIDA, NY — Police arrested a 21-year-old man following an investigation into the reported sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 at a homeless encampment. Izaya J. Miles was charged with two counts of rape in the first degree, a class A felony, endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, and unlawfully dealing with a child, a class A misdemeanor. Police located and arrested Miles on Aug. 4, 2026.
Man charged with grand larceny in New Hartford
NEW HARTFORD, NY — A man faces a felony charge after allegedly stealing more than $1,000 worth of energy drinks from a supermarket over a two-month period. John Battiste Dorsagno, 35, of Utica, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, on Aug. 5, 2026. New Hartford police received multiple reports in July and August 2026 from loss prevention staff at Market 32 on Commercial Drive regarding thefts of energy drinks.
Deputies seek suspect in burglary, vehicle theft in Pittsford
PITTSFORD, NY — Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in a burglary and vehicle theft investigation. The incident occurred on East Avenue in the Village of Pittsford on Aug. 4, 2026. The suspect left the scene in a stolen gray 2018 Audi Q5. HORNELL, NY — Six people were arrested following a drug investigation and search warrant execution at a Canisteo Street residence. Members of the Hornell Police Department executed a search warrant at 293 Canisteo Street on Aug. 6, 2026.
