Backed by a $1.25 million operational seed investment from Trib Total Media, the Lab is dedicated to producing high-impact, accountability journalism as a free, open-source resource for every media outlet and resident in Western Pennsylvania.
Andrew Conte - Newsworks Lab
Andrew Conte, Ph.D., editor and director of Newsworks Lab, previously founded the Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University in 2016. He has worked as an investigative journalist and authored four nonfiction books, including The Color of Sundays and Death of the Daily News. At the CMI, Conte raised $8.5 million for community-engaged approaches to sustaining and growing local news, mostly across southwestern Pennsylvania.
