I spent the Sunday of Labor Day weekend in Lambertville, New Jersey, and New Hope, Pennsylvania, with my wife Linda, my son Steve, his girlfriend Mab, and their 15-week-old puppy, Django. The weather was glorious, and apparently everyone else in the region had the exact same idea. Both towns were packed, people hitting the thrift shops, which is what actually brought Steve and Mab along, the art galleries, the boutiques, and every restaurant with an open table.

I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to Germany several times, visiting Munich, Herzogenaurach, Frankfurt and Bonn. I fell in love with everything about Germany, the beautiful landscape, the architecture, the history and, of course, the food and bier! But I have to admit, the bier halls were always my favorite part of the trip. Every town and city I visited seemed to have a great bier hall where I could sit down, enjoy the atmosphere and raise a stein, or two, or three of Germany’s finest biers.

Some may argue that New Jersey has produced more star power than any other state in the nation. We’re home to celebs from every field and industry. But who is the most famous person from each of the 21 counties in New Jersey? We made a (subjective) list below. Did we get it right? You’ll have to tell us what YOU think. A familiar face has stepped away from coverage of the Philadelphia Eagles. The news comes just days before the 2026-27 NFL season begins. Rob Jaworski, a former Eagles quarterback, has been a familiar face on TV coverage for the Birds for several years. In fact, for the past four season, he has been a part of NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Eagles pre and post game coverage. He is certainly a familar face in the City of Philadelphia. But that is all coming to an end.

2026 marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. To me, it still feels like yesterday, as I'm sure it does for you. That is, if you were born or old enough to remember. I'm probably one of the few who was still in high school that got to witness the second plane hit live on TV. It was purely by luck that we got to see it happen. I remember it clear as day. I was in history class, and our teacher, Mr. Kennedy, was about to put a video in for us to watch.

A Morris County man who has served for years as a municipal police officer is accused of stalking and violently choking a woman after she rejected his romantic advances. Florham Park officer Gregory M. Dietz was arrested on July 20 after the Roseland resident reported the incident to police. The 34-year-old Dietz, who lives in Flanders, was then charged with second-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree stalking.

This is a great way to thank an important group of people in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for sacrificing so much and making a difference in their communities each and every day. Gilchrist Restaurant abruptly closed its Margate location, one day after Labor Day weekend. As a Margate local, I can tell you that this is sad and surprising news about a year-round business that many counted on for friendly service and a good meal. Workers at Gilchrist Downbeach Restaurant were surprised on Tuesday when their shift ended, and they were told that it would be their last day working at the restaurant.

The question of who knew about allegations of misconduct against Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell — and when — could be closer to an answer because of a letter in which he denies the accusations. The allegations were made in the "late spring," and an investigation was launched by former Attorney General Christopher Porrino, according to the New Jersey Globe.

This is one of the best times of the year at Peddler's Village in Lahaska. I find myself saying that every season, though. There's always something fun going on at Peddler's Village. If you haven't been, get there pronto. It's a dining, shopping, lodging, and entertainment destination. One of my favorite traditions, Scarecrows in the Village, is going on right now. The 47th annual display kicked off on September 7th and runs through October 26th. This is quite a sight and one not to be missed.
