For anyone living under a rock, Last Wishes are one of the UK's modern-day heavy hitters. It's been a few years since their LP Organized Hate came out, and now they're back with two demolishing tracks on DAZE, bringing forth their signature mosh-heavy riffs in the form of "The Only Answer" and "Under the Hammer." I remember seeing them a few years back at a matinée at the Ché Café alongside Big Boy. Nothing harder than a lunchtime mosh pit.
In Contempt: North Shore Rippers Talk Unbeaten Records Signing, Nasty New EP
Back in 2024, I interviewed In Contempt at one of their shows at O'Brien's shortly after their first demo dropped. I think the interview only took about 20 minutes, but we spent the next hour or so shooting the shit and missing several sets because that's what hardcore is really about, isn't it? Since then, they've been playing shows all around New England, each one an assured pile of medical bills.
STRUT: OCHC Band Talk New EP, From Within Records & Covering the Cro-Mags
OCHC. Four letters that anyone involved in hardcore knows exactly what they stand for. The acronym made a name for itself because so many people back it and put on for it every day. Some of those people are the guys from the soon-to-be-almighty STRUT. Previously covered by No Echo, the Orange County troop has released their newest EP, aptly titled STRUT.
GASSED: Queens Hardcore Punk Outfit Discuss Their Killer New Record, Mental
Wyatt for No Echo again with a new video interview, this time with New York-based hardcore punk band GASSED. GASSED have a new release titled Mental due out October 6 via Uprising Records on all major streaming services, with a vinyl release also planned. Yes, Uprising Records is back in full force after a long hiatus.
Looking Back at European Straight Edge Hardcore in the ‘90s
Refused in 1994. (Photo: Ole Petterson) Since writing my piece on Christian hardcore last week, I've been in a nostalgic mood, thinking about other corners of hardcore that fascinated me during the '90s. One thing that's easy to forget now is how much detective work went into discovering underground bands before the internet. Magazines like Metal Maniacs, Kerrang!, Metal Forces, and Metal Mania covered bands from Sweden, Norway, England, Germany, and beyond.
Wolfbrigade: Swedish Crust Legends Announce New LP, Release First Single
Swedish crust punk veterans Wolfbrigade have announced their new album, Howl From Underground, arriving October 9 via Metal Blade Records. The band has also released the record's first single, "Cold War Bootlicker," along with an accompanying video. Following 2024's Life Knife Death, the upcoming 12-song LP finds Wolfbrigade changing up their recording process after a decade of handling production themselves.
New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Paresthesia
Band: Paresthesia From: Reading, UK Their formation story: (Brea, vocals): “We all met through the University of Reading. Despite us all taking different classes, we became friends through the rock and metal society due to a shared love of hardcore and a desire to form a band and play live!” Their sound in their own words: “Paresthesia is a hardcore death metal band.
Morning Again: Inside the Florida Hardcore Band’s Earliest Days, 30 Years Later
Three decades later, Damien Moyal is back fronting Morning Again, the South Florida metallic hardcore band he left in 1996 after recording their only two releases with him on vocals. Moyal's return comes as Morning Again approaches a milestone: 2026 marks 30 years since the release of The Cleanest War, their five-song debut EP for Conquer the World Records, and the Hand of Hope/God Framed Me 7" on Intention Records.
Que Lindo: Oslo Hardcore Punk Band Brings “Boogie for the End Times” on Debut LP
Que Lindo began in 2023 as Oslo musician Erik Lindo’s solo project. His original plan was simple: record a 10-minute demo inspired by Negative Approach, Siege, and Darkthrone, then move on. But when Australia’s Urge Records picked up the demo, Lindo pulled together a full lineup, and they stayed playing shows. “After COVID, a lot of people in Oslo were eager for something new to happen,” Lindo tells No Echo.
Every Second Counts: New Melodic Hardcore Band Has Deep Roots in Winnipeg Scene
Every Second Counts might be a new name, but its members have deep roots in Winnipeg hardcore. Vocalist Andrew Sookram and guitarist Dan Forte go back over 20 years, first playing together in Aim For My Head. Back then, they were sharing bills with Figure Four, Comeback Kid, and local staples like Hollow Ground and Withdrawal. Aim For My Head eventually ran its course as members moved on and life took over, but Sookram never lost the drive to play music.
