During my absence I’ve slowly come to accept that while I love this publication and connecting with all of you, it’s time to officially announce an indefinite pause to Notes from Your Acupuncturist.

Ep 27: What’s the deal with acupressure mats?
“Something like acupressure, that involves self-touch, isn’t just therapeutic; it helps you feel more present, and more rooted, and just more alive in your own body.” Patients have been asking my opinion on acupressure mats for years. I finally got tired of saying, “I don’t really know,” so I decided to try one out for myself.
Acupuncture makes you glow
Dear Patient, Did you know that humans are bioluminescent? That’s right, we humans are capable of photon emissions—the same process that makes lightning bugs light up a summer evening and those creepy anglerfish at the bottom of the ocean dangle a glowing orb to lure prey into their giant maw. Our photon emissions are too weak to be perceived by the naked eye, but we glow, it’s true. And there’s research suggesting that acupuncture makes you glow even more.

Discussion thread! What's your favorite point?
Image: A handwritten note reads “Our favorites tell us something about ourselves…” I love reading and answering people’s questions about acupuncture and healing, but every now and then I like to turn the tables and ask YOU a question. So here’s today’s question… Do you have a favorite acupuncture point? If you don’t know the point name, a physical description is fine (i.e., the point at the top of the head). What do you love about it? Post your reply in the comments!

One of the things I love about doing this podcast is reconnecting with people I knew years ago, seeing where life and practice has taken them, and hearing some of the wisdom they’ve accumulated in the decades since we first met.
