It has been announced that JD Sports are to reissue close to €250,000 in unspent gift card credit to Irish consumers, after it had sold gift cards to consumers with incorrect expiry dates. The decision to reissue gift card credit comes after the Competition and Consumer Commission (CCPC) contacted JD Sports to discuss this issue. Under current legislation for gift vouchers, which was brought in in December 2019, gift vouchers must be valid for at least five years.

Following England's famous World Cup victory over Mexico in the Estadio Azteca, Jude Bellingham had a clear message for supporters. This comes as England sealed their place in the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup following this 3-2 victory over Mexico, in a game where Bellingham scored two goals, which had given the Three Lions a 2-0 lead. Bellingham's quickfire brace came within 98 seconds of each other, which saw England lead 2-0 after 38 minutes.

The country's largest trade union, SIPTU, has begun consulting with members across the public sector as it prepares for possible strike ballots in the coming weeks. Leinster is set to be the hottest part of the country this week, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 28C, as Met Éireann forecasts another spell of exceptionally warm weather. The warm conditions come just weeks after Ireland experienced two successive heatwaves, with forecasters now predicting temperatures will continue to rise through the week and could even reach 30C by Friday.
