The magnitude of the Oct. 7 attacks has prompted Israel to draw up plans for a “new security reality”, encompassing the threat that the Iranian regime and regional proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah pose to its existence. The Netanyahu government has also stepped up its anti-terror financing efforts and seized significant funds intended for use by these terror groups.

Since 2022 Russia has been trying to destroy the American HIMARS missile launchers provided to Ukraine. The first four HIMARS systems arrived in Ukraine in June 2023 and eventually there were 39. Despite repeated efforts and a few close calls, Russia has not been able to destroy any HIMARs vehicles. The 16-ton HIMARS launcher is mounted on a 6x6 truck and operated by a three-man crew. The vehicle is difficult to destroy because the truck can move a minute or two after launching missiles.

One bright day in April 1956, Moshe Dayan, the one-eyed chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), drove south to Nahal Oz, a recently established kibbutz near the border of the Gaza Strip. Dayan came to attend the funeral of 21-year-old Roi Rotberg, who had been murdered the previous morning by Palestinians while he was patrolling the fields on horseback. Britain has developed a laser-based weapon called DragonFire that can destroy or disable a UAV several kilometers distant. Each shot costs about $13 for the necessary electricity generated in the vehicle or ship carrying the DragonFire system. Britain is installing DragonFire in a 6x6 twelve-ton Wolfhound armored truck. DragonFire is also going to be installed on warships and replace conventional anti-aircraft or anti-missile systems.

France is sending Ukraine several hundred of its Armement Air-Sol Modulaire (AASM) Hammer bomb guidance kits. These are similar to the Stormbreaker bombs Ukraine already has. Hammer is a two-piece guidance kit that can be attached to 250. 500 or 1,000 kg bombs. One part, containing a rocket motor with folded wings, is attached to the rear of Hammer to get it going and away from the launching aircraft and gliding as the wings deploy.

Rumors that Russia had sent their new T-14 Armata tank to Ukraine proved partially true. T-14s were seen in portions of Ukraine long occupied by the Russians but not anywhere there was combat or contact with Ukrainian troops. Apparently because of the heavy tank losses Russia suffered in the first few months of the war, they were unsure if the untested T-14 would do any better.

On February 1, 2024, a violent mob desecrated an Ahmadi grave at Sahwala village in the Sheikhupura District of Punjab. Filmmaker and activist Ali Raza on X (formerly Twitter) brought attention to the incident, stating, There are reports of Maulvis in Sheikhupura excavating an Ahmadi grave and vandalizing the tombstone. These are the same impoverished individuals we assist through charity, who convey to the world that Allah is testing them.

On January 30, 2024, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and another 15 sustained injuries in a gunfight with Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres along the Sukma-Bijapur border in Bijapur District. The gunfight erupted when the CRPF personnel were working to establish a Forward Operating Base (FOB) – a remote camp meant to facilitate Security Forces (SFs) operating in core Maoist areas – in the area.
