MARMORA — A love of shopping together led a mother-daughter duo to open their own women’s boutique in 2017, and now they have expanded with a second location in Upper Township. Kathy and Megan Bellucci, who opened Wild Magnolia Boutique at Woodland Village and just finished their ninth summer there, held a grand opening of their new shop Aug. 28 in the Wayside Village at 54 Tuckahoe Road in Marmora.

Our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, Dotti “Mom Mom” Greto, passed away peacefully at 92 years old, at Rockridge Retirement Community in Northampton, MA with her devoted son, Andrew, by her side. Dotti is pre-deceased by her father, David Zopher Howell Marvel, her mother, Dorothy (Hargrave) Marvel, and her loving husband, Victor “Bob” Greto. Dotti was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1934.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — They talked and Zack Mullock listened as speaker after speaker detailed how they think U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew has failed the Second Congressional District. Mullock, the mayor of Cape May, is challenging the four-term MAGA Republican congressman in the election Nov. 3. He heard from leaders in education, independent living, support services, social justice and disability protections during the Moms for Mullock event Sept. 9 at Stockton.

SOMERS POINT — City Councilman Rick DePamphilis III is running for another term in the election Nov. 3, but with a different candidate on his ticket. Councilman Jack Shields, who was appointed Jan. 22 to replace Charlie Haberkorn after his resignation with a year left on his term, has decided not to run this fall. He has missed several meetings, including the one Aug. 27, due to health reasons, leading to speculation that he had stepped down. “I did not resign; I will be back,” Shields said Sept.

OCEAN CITY — Before heading into an executive session over hiring a litigator for a lawsuit on the former Wonderland Pier amusement park property, Councilman Keith Hartzell made it clear whatever happens on that property will be a plan “that is collective of everybody’s opinion.” He said the city is at the “very beginning” of the process to develop a plan as it negotiates with property owner Eustace Mita.

OCEAN CITY — A former council president and business representatives implored Ocean City Council last week to keep moving the city forward. The resort has been mired in controversy over what to do with the former Wonderland Pier amusement park property that has sat mostly silent since it closed in mid-October 2024 after nearly 60 years at 600 Boardwalk.

OCEAN CITY — Bill Merritt of Ocean City 2050, who is among those suing the city over the Wonderland Pier property, told City Council members they should individually state their positions on what should happen at the former amusement park site. Speaking before City Council during public comment Sept. 10, Merritt asked council to move forward on its vote on the Boardwalk Subcommittee report, which offers recommendations on zoning and the future of the entire boardwalk.
