Since its introduction as cash nearly 25 years ago, the euro has developed into a symbol of European identity. Today, almost 360 million people in 21 EU member states use the common currency. The euro is also legal tender in Monaco, Andorra, San Marino and the Vatican City. Kosovo and Montenegro adopted it unilaterally, and more recently Hungary’s new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, announced that he intends to examine the possibility of replacing the Hungarian forint with the euro.

The ‚yes‘ vote should be encouraged, but discreetly. The Greek crisis can only be overcome if political and historical parameters are also taken into account. European leaders need to maintain an open mind while continuing to pursue the ideal of a united Europe. The Greek government decided to call a referendum on the creditors‘ 25 June 2015 proposals. It is effectively a crucial referendum that will influence Greece’s future in the Eurozone.

Europa ist seit Jahren im Krisenmodus und versucht die großen Herausforderungen als Team zu meistern. Will man im globalen Wettbewerb bestehen, helfen die besten Einzelspieler nicht. Auf das Zusammenspiel kommt es an. Nicht unähnlich den Fußballnationalmannschaften, die gerade um den Weltmeistertitel ringen. Auch für Europa gilt: Einige Protagonisten sind schon länger dabei und können fast überall eingesetzt werden.
