Chevron, Oxy confirm Bandit oil find in deepwater Gulf of Mexico
Chevron has confirmed an oil discovery at the Bandit prospect in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, following drilling by operator Occidental. The exploration well, located in Green Canyon Block 680 about 125 miles south of the Louisiana coast, encountered high-quality, full-to-base oil-bearing Miocene sands, according to Chevron. The co-owners are evaluating the results to determine next steps.

Masirah Oil drilling program offshore Oman rescheduled to May
Masirah Oil Ltd. (MOL) and Rex International Holding Ltd., MOL’s indirect parent company, both reported that its planned drilling program in the offshore Yumna Field, Block 50 Oman, is now expected to commence in May. The program will consist of three development wells and will be operated by MOL, which holds a 100% working interest in Block 50. The drilling campaign is intended to support ongoing development activities in the Yumna Field.
Seadrill's West Polaris to continue operations in Brazil with multi-year contract
Seadrill's West Polaris ultradeepwater drillship was awarded a 1,095-day contract extension with Petrobras for work on the Búzios Field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. The additional term adds about $480 million in contract backlog and is scheduled to begin in direct continuation of the current program in January 2028.
