Omni Talk
Blog
Omni Talk was started by Chris Walton in the summer of 2017. After a nearly 20-year executive career in retail, Chris decided to venture out on his own and to create a platform for a community of individuals who share a passion for the evolution of retailing and a desire to explore new and better ways to do retail.
Anne Mezzenga soon joined Chris in the Fall of 2017, and Chris and Anne have not looked back since. Anne, with her background in marketing, quickly helped Chris establish Omni Talk as one of the fastest growing blogs in retail. Omni Talk’s work can be seen regularly on Forbes.com, the Robin Report, Retail Dive, and across many other media and corporate platforms.
The following year, Dan Phan and Carter Jensen joined the Omni Talk community. Dan serves two roles for Omni Talk. He is Omni Talk’s expert on business transformation, innovation, and digital education from his work as the Founder of the Late Majority, and he is also Omni Talk’s resident “foreign correspondent,” as he lives and works out of Lisbon, Portugal for much of the year. Carter Jensen is our expert in digital and social media marketing. He is an accomplished educator and speaker who currently works in advertising for Latitude, a well-known agency in Minneapolis.
Omni Talk is meant to tell the truth. Its content does not come from pundits or journalists. It comes from real people with real experience in the business. Our founders, Chris and Anne refuse to let Omni Talk be saturated by corporate speak, speak that often times is meant to serve the corporate best interest rather than the best interest of you, the reader, as an individual.
Omni Talk’s “serious and sometimes comic musings” are meant to give an opinion on the past and future of retail. Some opinions may be right, some most certainly may be wrong — but, no matter what, they are meant to provoke curiosity about the retail industry that we all know and love, and, most importantly, they come from the heart, with nothing but the best of intentions.
We believe deeply that Minneapolis and other cities around the country can once again become the next epicenters of retail innovation. Omni Talk is our refusal to give into apathy.
After all, innovation is not Seattle’s birthright. Source

US Shoppers Feel The Pinch, BJ’s Trims The Fat And Target’s Big Beauty Bet | GrocerTalk
Hello GrocerTalk listeners, Some weeks there’s one big story that dominates the conversation. And then there are weeks like this one. A few seemingly unrelated headlines start to add up. Strong results from Dollar Tree and Dollar General. More Americans struggling to afford food. Signs that lower-income shoppers may be changing how they spend, even at Walmart. On their own, each story is interesting.
