I can't be the only one who's having trouble trying to grasp why we are only focused on the MLS cup. Hear me out for a second, I understand it's the "super bowl" of soccer for us and I'm all for the Redbulls winning the league but why is it that the satisfaction ends there. I mean we barely bring up the champions league but I honestly feel our side this year can make a deep push in the competition but it's as if it's being pushed aside like it's a charity event with no reward.
Andrea Pirlo, Future Red Bull?
Everybody knows about Andrea Pirlo. Everybody loves Andrea Pirlo. The man with such precise passing and free kicks that he could probably hit that red seat in the South Ward with a tennis ball while on the other side of the stadium. The man with probably the best beard and hair combo in football. The man who's now won 5 Scudetti in a row- 1 with Milan, 4 with Juve. Yes, everyone loves Andrea Pirlo.
Germany: Land of Football
In the days leading up to the 2014 World Cup I made a bold prediction: Germany was going to win. Friends – friends who knew way more than me about international soccer – scoffed. There was no way Germany was going to win. The World Cup was in Brazil, where soccer is bigger than Jesus, and Argentina had the soccer messiah, Lionel Messi. The Cup, they told me, was going back to South America. A month later, I was too shocked at being right to bother gloating.
Never Surrender
I had built up the match in Columbus to have a special meaning for me. My first in-person Red Bulls match was against Columbus so somewhere in my mind I thought attending game one of the Eastern Conference Final was some sort of metaphorical circle completing itself. Desperate to finally write a fanpost, I tried writing about the two matches, but everything I wrote was unfocused crap. Just like the way we played Sunday night. Nine seconds. Columbus scored nine seconds into the game.
Who are ya?, Time to bring back the MetroStars
First post on once a metro so here we go. Call me crazy but I think it's time for us red bulls to be no longer called the red bulls.I could just imagine your heads exploding as you read this but hear me out. With NYCFC looking stronger and stronger by the minute why do we as red bulls look weaker?
Red Bulls not surprised as national team calls roll in
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports It’s January, so you know what to expect. Gray skies, crowded gyms, and MLS preseasons being mildly disrupted by international call-ups. The New York Red Bulls have emerged as one of the bigger honorees/victims in the national team squad lists being released this week. After news earlier this week that injury-plagued youngster Wikelman Carmona would be joining up with the Venezuela under-20s, the Red Bulls saw more players recognized at senior level on Wednesday.
Red Bulls Paper Revue: January 16, 2023
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports Welcome to the New York Red Bulls Paper Revue presented by Once a Metro. Trite opinion, but I miss the days when actors refused to do American commercials, and I’m not talking about acting in Marvel movies! There needs to be a mystique involved with film that allows for immersion and suspension of disbelief. Could you imagine if John Candy was shilling M&Ms? I’m sure the commercial would be funny, but who wants that? What’s that?
Peter Stroud’s long winding journey brings him back to the Red Bulls
Catalina Fragoso-USA TODAY Sports The New York Red Bulls transfer wheel is increasing in RPM, with perhaps the most interesting development yet being the long-expected signing of 20-year-old Duke University midfielder Peter Stroud to a Homegrown contract as confirmed on Saturday.
Lateral play and Love Island: what to know about Red Bulls target Dante Vanzeir
Photo by Jeroen Meuwsen/BSR Agency/Getty Images The big rumor of the winter transfer window has hit airwaves and wifi routers. As confirmed stateside by Tom Bogert on Monday afternoon, the New York Red Bulls are pursuing Dante Vanzeir of Union Saint-Gilloise. The Belgium international forward (one cap) has scored 42 league goals across the domestic first and second divisions over the last three years, and may take some jingle-jangling to pry loose.
Red Bulls Paper Revue: January 9, 2023
Photo by Ira L. Black - Corbis/Getty Images Welcome to the Red Bulls Paper Revue presented by Once a Metro. I’ve realized that most criticism is just projection. People are disingenuous cowards who cannot get their own lives in order. For example, my dentist told me that I need to brush more, but I guarantee she’s the one with the “serious dental hygiene problem.” Here’s this week’s top story. *** I simply cannot allow the Twitterati to have all of the transfer market fun.
