It has been exactly one month since the Florida Gators landed a particularly notable addition to their Class of 2027, as head coach Jon Sumrall continues piecing together what looks like it will be one of the top assembled groups in the nation once the process concludes. That relative drought came to an end Monday when defensive back Kamauri Whitfield (Orlando, FL) committed to join the Gators.

It has undoubtedly been a “good” week for the Florida Gators’ recruiting efforts, as head coach Jon Sumrall has continued to amass significant talent ahead of his first season leading the program. Over the last few days, Florida received a trio of commitments with four-star defensive linemen Cahron Wheeler (Baltimore, MD) and Zahmar Tookes (Rochester, NY) as the standout pledges.

Jackson (6-foot-6, 297 pounds) is ranked No. 122 nationally, per 247Sports. He committed to Florida over Georgia, LSU and other programs.

The Florida Gators’ recruiting surge behind first-year head coach Jon Sumrall continued unabated Friday as four-star linebacker Ja’Bios Smith (Swainsboro, GA) committed to the program. He is the first player at his position to join UF’s impressive Class of 2027. Smith (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) is ranked No. 142 nationally in the 247Sports Composite. He committed to Florida over a list of finalists that included Texas, Texas A&M and South Carolina.

The Florida Gators may not have won back-to-back national championships, but the core of that 2025 title team is nevertheless following in the footsteps of the Oh Fours. Deciding to put off a professional career for another season, junior center Rueben Chinyelu on Thursday announced that he will return to Florida for his senior campaign, forgoing a potential first-round selection in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Four-star wide receiver Elias Pearl (Port Charlotte, FL) committed to join the Gators, continuing Sumrall’s run with another blue-chip pledge. Pearl (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) is rated as the 90th overall player in the 2027 class by 247Sports. He committed to Florida over Ole Miss with Florida State, Georgia and Virginia Tech among his other finalists.

Beard (5-foot-10, 197 pounds) ranks No. 154 nationally in the 247Sports Composite. He committed to Florida over Clemson, Georgia and Tennessee as the lone rusher in the class to this point.

Beef is coming to Gainesville, Florida, in the form of offensive linemen joining the Florida Gators’ Class of 2027. Joining the ride is four-star offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson (Roanoke, VA), who verbally committed to join the Gators at a planned ceremony on Tuesday. Hutcheson (6-foot-5, 275 pounds) is ranked No. 85 nationally in the 247Sports Composite. The No. 2 prospect in the state of Virginia chose Florida over Clemson, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden is in the process of closing out his roster for the 2026-27 season, with another European addition announced on Monday. Slovenian power forward Domen Petrović, 22, has decided to continue his career playing at Florida. Petrović (6-foot-9) averaged 16.6 points on 39.5% shooting from 3-point range, along with 6.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season as a professional in Slovenia.
