Penn State men’s soccer (2-2-0, 0-0-0 Big Ten) shut out Yale (1-2-0, 0-0-0 Ivy League) 1-0 at Jeffrey Field on Friday Night. The Nittany Lion offense and the Yale defense dominated the first half. Penn State spent most of the first 45 minutes on offense, but the Bulldogs kept them from scoring. Penn State kept up that offensive dominance in the second half, scoring the only goal needed to win.
Penn State Field Hockey Takes Tight Match 2-0 Against Villanova
Penn State field hockey (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) defeated the Villanova Wildcats (2-1, 0-0 Big East) 2-0 in a tight match Friday afternoon. Natalie Freeman opened up the scoring late in the third quarter, as Villanova’s Maddi Sears kept Penn State at bay for most of the match. The Wildcats had a few chances, including a bouncing ball in front of an open net, but were not able to convert before Joji Purdy put the game away at the 55-minute mark with a goal from a penalty corner.

Penn State football has added a new optional way to enter Beaver Stadium this season. Folks going to the Nittany Lions’ 2026 season opener can now opt into a facial authentication express entry ticket that can be used at designated entrance points. Your face is your ticket.

Judge Orders Jerry Sandusky’s September 8 Hearing To Proceed After Attempt At Federal Relief
Jerry Sandusky’s request to move his evidentiary hearing to federal court has been denied, according to court documents filed on September 4. The ruling allows the scheduled September 8 hearing to proceed as scheduled in the Court of Common Pleas of Centre County. The hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Sandusky and his legal team filed a motion on September 3 seeking to withdraw from the hearing. Sandusky and his attorneys are seeking federal relief.

Your Guide To Labor Day Weekend In State College
Although you may not be able to head down the shore, tan on a beach, catch a baseball game, barbecue by a pool, or do whatever western Pennsylvanians do on Labor Day weekend, there are plenty of activities in Happy Valley to squeeze out the last bits of summer. Let’s start with the obvious here. Penn State hosts Marshall at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Beaver Stadium. The weather is supposed to be exceptional, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 77 degrees.

There’s a new food spot downtown, folks. Brooklyn Bodega welcomed its first customers last weekend after opening up on College Ave. The deli and grill offers a variety of options, such as breakfast foods, sandwiches, wraps, wings, gyros, and more. A few of our staffers made the trip to try out State College’s newest offering. Going to a New York City-inspired bodega, I had to order the chopped cheese. Let me just say, I was very surprised.
