Oakland schedules road improvements
The town of Oakland has scheduled road improvements for portions of five roads starting Monday, Aug. 17. Portions of East and West Henschen Avenue, East Gulley Avenues and North Brock and North Cross streets will undergo improvements. Although the town does not expect any road closures, there might be some delays due to construction.
Wintermere Pointe home tops Winter Garden home sales from Aug. 3 to 9
A Wintermere Pointe home topped all Winter Garden residential real-estate transactions from Aug. 3 to 9. The home at 2640 Grove View Lane, Winter Garden, sold Aug. 5, for $765,000. Built in 2001, it has five bedrooms, three baths and 3,738 square feet of living area. Days on market: 67. The sellers were represented by Jeff Petch, Gecko Realty Inc. OAKLAND HULL ISLAND The home at 2022 Boss Hewett St., Oakland, sold Aug. 3, for $684,000.
H Mart expands food hall with new additions
H Mart has finished constructing its Orlando Food Hall extension. From 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting Friday, Aug. 21, customers will have the chance to explore new dining options at the Asian grocery store. Six new businesses will be opening at H Mart, including Curry 88, Mari Mari, Seoul Hotteok, bb.q Chicken, Dduk Dabang and Sorimmara. Final food orders are taken at 30 minutes prior to closing, at 8:30 p.m.
WGHF celebrates Winter Garden's 118th birthday with exhibit
The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation is featuring an exhibit to celebrate 118 years since Winter Garden's incorporation. There will be 118 artifacts on display including never-before-seen pieces. "Each one tells a piece of the story of Winter Garden and the people, places and moments that helped shape our community," WGHF officials said. Visitors can check out the exhibit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays until Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Heritage Museum.
Windermere Public Works to complete landscaping work at roundabouts
The town of Windermere announced its Public Works team will be performing landscaping work Friday, Aug. 14. According to its announcement, work will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the roundabouts at Park Avenue and 5th Avenue. Town officials ask residents to slow down through work zones and allow extra travel time.
Orange County Parks and Recreation to host grand opening of new Horizon West park
Orange County Parks and Recreation will be celebrating the opening of a new park in Horizon West. The grand opening for Watermark Park will be at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at 9940 Seidel Road. The $1.8 million park is located directly in front of Panther Lake Elementary School. The 5.69-acre neighborhood park will include a dog park for small and large dogs and shaded playgrounds for ages 2 to 5 as well as ages 5 to 12.
Oakland Nature Preserves' boardwalk reopens
Oakland Nature Preserve announced the boardwalk has reopened Thursday, Aug. 13. The boardwalk was temporarily closed Wednesday, Aug. 12, for planned renovations. The closure was expected to last through Friday, Aug. 14, but the preserve announced the work was completed faster than expected. The closure affected the sidewalk leading up to the second part of the boardwalk, closing off access to the lake.
