Hello Outpost Friends, how the hell are you? We are in full summer mode over here at Outpost HQ (which in my imagination is a fantastical beach bungalow where Ryan and I are chained to antique type writers) and we are intent on getting you as much written and social content as possible over the next three months. My June so far has been pleasant. I have abandoned the trout rivers in favor of finding striped bass in Long Island Sound.

Past few weeks have been mayhem, as the start of summer typically is. Warm weather kicks in and my brain immediately goes to: time to eat, time to drink, time to travel. Alongside that, it’s been chaotic with the launch of Blackbird’s second summer out East. At this point I should have bought a commuter pass on the LIRR. All of that is to say, looking at the Outpost feed, it reads a bit chaotic too — albeit filled with some good stuff.

Few places stick with me the way Charleston does. I’m writing this in the wake of another installment of returning to the Lowcountry to jumpstart the always belated New England summer. While the Northeast thaws, Charleston in May offers just the right amount of haze and palmettos to force you to consider why you live where you live.

Summer Dress Edition The battery is on E across the board — Portugal wedding right into a full week at work and Outpost as we gear up for a full slate of events this summer. Trying to coordinate the design of a cigar wrapper from a dinner table in Portugal is hard. Came back right into another wedding. Tanks Low. That said, with all these weddings, figured I’d offer a few thoughts on wedding attire.

My first trip to Portugal was incredible, and I did my best to organize suggestions around restaurants, hotels, shopping, and the surrounding areas. I’ve found that city guides are becoming way too much — 40 hotels, 30 restaurants, 100 shops — all for the aspiring traveler going to a new city for four nights. It’s too much.
