The recent Neighborhood Assistance Program award to the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership will help create a cleaner, safer downtown over the next six years. Since Governor Josh Shapiro united the public, private, and non-profit sector behind a concrete plan to improve the neighborhood in 2024, real progress has already been made to create new housing opportunities, improve safety, and bring new vibrancy to the Golden Triangle.

There are 56,000 Pennsylvania households in manufactured homes and thousands have been subjected to significant increases to their monthly lot rent in recent years. In his budget address last month, Governor Shapiro called on the legislature to pass legislation limiting lot rent increases for manufactured homeowners. Governor Shapiro’s visit to Douglass Village highlighted his budget proposal and his Housing Action Plan to meet Pennsylvania’s housing needs and make housing more affordable.

Schreiber Foods is investing $132.9 million to expand capacity at its Shippensburg manufacturing facility. The Commonwealth is investing $1 million to support the dairy manufacturer’s project to create 47 new jobs and retain 516 existing positions Since taking office, the Shapiro Administration has attracted over $40.4 billion in private-sector investment, creating more than 22,400 jobs in Pennsylvania.

Under Governor Shapiro’s leadership, Pennsylvania’s economy continues to thrive. According to an analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Pennsylvania saw the third highest job growth in the country in 2025, outperforming other states in construction and manufacturing jobs. The Commonwealth has always been a leader in discovery and innovation, and Governor Josh Shapiro is calling for increased funding in his proposed 2026-27 state budget to continue that momentum in key industries life sciences, robotics and technology, energy, manufacturing, and agriculture. The Governor’s budget creates the Innovate in PA 2.0 program to deploy nearly $100 million into the Commonwealth’s innovation economy.

The Shapiro Administration is investing in the Commonwealth’s economic competitiveness, awarding a $5.7 million PA SITES grant for the development of a pad-ready site in Northumberland County. The funding will be used to install water infrastructure, relocate utility poles, and prepare a pad-ready site to attract new businesses to the area, creating jobs and real opportunity for Pennsylvanians.

The projects supported through these PIDA loans will inject more than $15.2 million into the economy, create 34 new jobs, and retain 98 existing positions. Since the Shapiro Administration took office in 2023, the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) has approved $161,400,538 in low-interest loans that have resulted in $412,782,567 in private investment, the creation of 1,349 full-time jobs, and retention of 2,394 existing jobs.

Governor Shapiro’s proposed 2026-27 budget calls for a $1 billion investment in housing and critical infrastructure to accelerate the construction of new homes across Pennsylvania and provide critical rehabilitation funding to preserve existing homes.

Governor Shapiro created the PA SITES program after consulting with national site selectors to ensure Pennsylvania has more readily available, development-ready sites to attract companies, investment, and good-paying jobs to the Commonwealth. The Shapiro Administration has now invested over $146.4 million in PA SITES funding for 37 projects across the Commonwealth — transforming underused land into job-creating, shovel-ready sites that attract businesses and drive economic growth.
