Back in February, Mike Vrabel, fresh off reaching Super Bowl LX and winning NFL Coach of the Year, challenged his staff to bring him new ideas to keep building on the Patriots core schemes. ​"We have to have fresh ideas for what we're doing in all three phases. That's been my direction to the staff is to go through and focus on what we can do to enhance the core concepts," Vrabel said. "I need to see some new ideas that maybe force us to push ourselves in a different direction.

After several weeks in the offseason program, the Patriots head into summer break following the conclusion of their three-day mandatory minicamp. ​The next time we'll see the defending AFC champs on the grass will be the first day of training camp, with veterans reporting on July 24 and the first camp practice on Saturday, July 25 (open to the public). And the state of the Patriots is currently positive.

Do you have a message for them? MV: Yeah, I always have messages for our players. I think I told you this last year and in the past that those weeks from the end of their time here until training camp are some of the most important days of the entire season. That is just what it is.

MV: I mean, again, I think that they found each other a couple times yesterday in the red zone, and I think that's a work in progress. I think that is just how it goes from having a player come in. I think that connection is critical to rely on. A quarterback and receiver have to be on the same page. Practice is critical, the reps are critical.

Press Conference Wednesday, June 10, 2026 Q: How are things going for you and A.J. Brown? It looks like you're starting to connect fairly easily. DM: It's hard not to get excited. What a player he is, and just right off the bat, what a great teammate so far. He was eager to learn. He's great with the guys in the locker room, and we just look forward to playing with a guy of that caliber. I know he's been a great player in this league. He's gone everywhere.

The Patriots kicked off their mandatory minicamp with a 90-minute practice session on the practice fields outside the New Balance Athletics Center on Tuesday afternoon. As is usually the case in the spring, the top storylines from the first mandatory practice are attendance-related.

MV: Yeah, I think we have seen growth in a lot of players, especially some of the younger ones, which I would consider Drake, going into his third year, one of those younger players.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the New England Patriots announced the dates for public access to practices for their 2026 Training Camp, presented by New Balance. Veteran players will report on Friday, July 24. The team's first public practice will take place the next day on Saturday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m. All outdoor training camp practices will take place on the upper grass fields behind Gillette Stadium.

The rain didn't put a damper the 27th Annual Best Buddies Challenge on Cape Cod this weekend, with New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye returning for a third year to serve as its honorary chair. It also didn't deter his teammate, wide receiver Mack Hollins, from finishing the 100-mile bike ride Saturday for the cause. "You know how Mack is," Maye said at the charity fundraiser. "He doesn't need a pep talk, he crushed it. Props to Mack – 100 miles.
