This heat is not funny
BESIDE THE POINT Posted Saturday, September 5, 2026 10:42 pm I’ve been having trouble finding the funny in the world lately. We’re still paying $4 a gallon for gas, my utility bills keep going up, my assessed valuations keep going up despite not doing anything to my property, $75 isn’t uncommon for a meal for two and $100 if you tip well. There’s not a lot to laugh about anymore. Cancer rates are through the roof in Iowa, education is sagging when our pants used to be high and secured.
Hawks finally find win over Albia
HAWK FOOTBALL Posted Saturday, September 5, 2026 5:16 am I think given the conditions — get on a bus at 96 degrees this afternoon, ride in a two-hour heat box, and then play the way we did tonight, I think that says a lot about these guys.” ALBIA — The defensive pressure was going to come from the left, so the play call was to have Central Lee quarterback Brett Cook roll to the right.

BLOODHOUND FOOTBALL Posted Friday, September 4, 2026 11:30 pm 100% we were ready to go punch for punch with them. I’m biased but I don’t think they were as ready for that as we were. We weren’t cramping, we were just bowing out.” WEST BURLINGTON – Fort Madison was just fine letting West Burlington tailback Jayden Nanthan run wild in the first half of Friday’s 42-21 loss to the Falcons. That was because every time Nanthan punched it in for a score, Fort Madison would punch back.... in the first half.
